No Rhyme or Reason
You may have noticed the picture of Morgan Harrington at the top of my sidebar. She was a 20-year-old local girl, a student at VA Tech, who disappeared from a Metallica concert in Charlottesville on October 17th. I've been very involved in the ongoing search for her, search for information, and search for answers. Sadly, her bones were found on Tuesday in a remote, godforsaken spot on a 740-acre farm ten miles from Charlottesville. She was discovered by chance by the farmer who had gone out to the field to check for fence damage from a weekend storm. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gone out there 'til Spring. Hopefully, the Virginia State Police will be a hell of a lot quicker to find and arrest the killer(s) than they were to find her. Unless they know a lot more than they've ever said publicly. And I'm not holding my breath on that one.
Also, a 2-year-old local boy disappeared on January 14th, kidnapped during what his stepfather described as a home invasion. Subsequent investigation and questioning revealed that the child was dead before anyone ever called 911. They found his body today in the landfill, and charged the stepfather with murder.
I swear, sometimes it seems like this world is filled with evil people. But we can't lose sight of the fact that good people are still in the majority. I guess all we can do is be very, very careful out there.
