BOLO

myspace layout codes

Be on the lookout for this new virus threat. I got this e-mail Saturday, and it does say it's been checked out through both Norton's and Snopes, so one has to presume it may be legitimate. Better safe than sorry, you know.

I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!

I checked snopes.com, this morning ( 4-10-08) and it is for real!!

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,' regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called "POSTCARD," even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! This includes all cards, too. Shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero
Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

The weather was positively schizophrenic around here this weekend. It went from hot and dry to wet and muggy to wet and chilly. Ahhhhh, such is Springtime.

These Words Gone Wild hauled in by TWISTED LINGUISTICS appear to be a bit schizophrenic, too.

discuraged - A poor stray mutt that has been disabused of the notion that he is, in fact, a mongrel and, voila, turned into a purebred. It made him mad and, yep, dat cur raged.

a week soul - One who is good during the week and raises hell on the weekend?

memeber - One who excels at playing with memes.

it dose not - It refuses to take its medicine.

proabably - Proactively able.

These belong to you guys. Tell us what they mean.

What Your Feet Say About You:

You are pretty average in your expressiveness. You can express yourself well, but you don't always want to.

You are a somewhat passionate person. A few things get you very fired up, but you're usually pretty laid back.

You are an assertive person at times. You'll pull out all the stops to get what you want, if it's worth it.

You take a while to fall in love, but once you do, you stay pretty attached to your partner.

You are not afraid of anything. You are brave and courageous, even when most people would be terrified.

You are intellectual and philosophical. You are more concerned with thoughts than action.

You are very spoiled. You don't work unless you have to, and you love to be waited on.

You are easily influenced by other people. You're quite impressionable, so you should only be around people who are a good influence.

Have a great Monday!

LOL, G. My feet are giving me some grief today, too. They got stuffed into new shoes and protested a bit. No blisters, though. Although, the shoes are cute enough to have endured blisters for them. If I had to. Which I didn't.:D

You've done a very good job today, Bilbo. I had no idea what those rogue words meant.:)

So, you checked it out, VE? Good to know it's for real, since forewarned is forearmed, except in case of hoax. I don't send many cards, but I do receive them from time to time. I won't be opening any for the nonce.:)

I can see why they were a problen for you, /t. They gave me fits, too; practically scalded my lenses, they did. Wishing you a happy, postcard-free Monday as well.:)

Those are some excellent defs from you today, Kan. I'm especially enchanted with legisature now that you've explained it to me.:)

Bilbo, "grattitude" just struck me. I think I was reading too fast and it went right by me. Great catch!:-)

I don't need a quiz to tell me what my feet say about me. Years ago a friend's mother summed up my size 10 feet "You have a great under standing."

That virus warning is virtually word for word at the bottom of the Snopes entry about it.

[NOTE: Readers should take particular care not to confuse the real postcard/greeting card virus with the "Virtual Card for You" hoax that has been circulating for several years. Some of the "Postcard" warnings contribute to this confusion by including within them a link to our article about the "Virtual Card for You" hoax. They're not the same thing, despite some e-mail warnings that erroneously present them as such. Other versions of the postcard virus warning mistakenly combine it with the Invitation virus hoax:

BTW, the "Zero Sector of the Hard Disc" is generally considered the boot sector, and there IS ways to repair that, one of which is to use a boot floppy, or a bootable CD. I have several Linux "Live CDs" and a couple of DVDs I can use to repair lots of stuff on my computer, and yeah, I even have boot floppies.

Thanks SJ. I'm sending off the warning to some others and I won't call the title of the email postcard hopefully.

Your weather has been a xerox of the weather up here. It hit 80 last Wednesday and hovered in the 70s the rest of the week. Saturday and Sunday slipped into the 60s. Today its been in the low 50s/high 40s with a relentless cold winds and rain. It's supposed to be like that until Tuesday afternoon.

I almost forgot the reminder:

The latest Monday installment of
Echoes of Eddie has been posted.

Let me just make this perfectly clear: That email is a HOAX. There is no need to send to your contacts. H-O-A-X, hoax, flimflam, deception, falsehood, lie, untruth, fraud, trickery, forked tongue, put-on... come on help me out here, I know there's got to be other words for it.

ya i figured it was a hoax. But I do need my zero sector - if for nothing other than 'reference' purposes ;)

Yours sound like good strong feet, Roxan.:)

Thanks for the info, Charles. You just never know about these things, so all the info one can get about it is good.:)

Good idea, CD. With the wrong title, it won't get read.:)

I agree, Mike. Your weather's as weird as mine. Thanks for the "Eddie" alert. I'll go read soonest.:)

I don't even know where my zero sector is, Pinks, but I know I don't want it messed up.:)

Zero sector- That place on my hard drive where my blog posts go when I forget to hit 'Save'..

If my feet start talking to me, I'm bagging reality, moving to a monastery in Tibet, and going to eat broccoli and flatulate Gregorian to the oldies...

Serena said...

I have one of those "Save" sectors, too, Sling. If only I knew how to get in there, Lord only knows what "saved" stuff I'd find:)

In that case, Skunk, I hope your feet remain mute. I'd hate to lose you to a bunch of broccoli-chanting monks.:D
