7. What color are the walls in your favorite room in your home?

8. Do you like Chinese food?
To quote Monty Python:
I like Chinese food.
The waiters never are rude.
Think of the many things they've done to impress.
There's Maoism, Taoism, I Ching, and Chess.

So I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
I like their tiny little trees,
Their Zen, their ping-pong, their yin, and yang-ese.

I like Chinese thought,
The wisdom that Confucious taught.
If Darwin is anything to shout about,
The Chinese will survive us all without any doubt.

So, I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
They only come up to your knees,
Yet they're wise and they're witty, and they're ready to please.

Dear Miss Begotten,
Are there any horror movies you like to watch on Halloween?

Love your Monty Python take on Chinese, Kan.:)

Re your #3 -- Hmmmm. Do you suppose a few gracious comments would heal them of their mental afflictions?

High Def TV -- Wow! I'll bet that looks great.

rkfinnell said...

The quiz cracked me up. Serena will know why. For those who don't Faolan is the name of one of the character in the novel I'm working on. It means wolf in Irish.

My Werewolf name: Parvani Faolan

Roxan, if you'll agree to help me, your solution to #3 is doable. I always get shrimp in my Chinese food. That way, I figure I'm pretty safe.:)

I didn't know #2 about you, Pink. Interesting! I remember when you wrote about your birthday party in Switzerland. I was simply in awe. #5 -- you know, we should compare shoe inventories. We could probably open a shop. LOL.:)

I don't think I know the Fox Trot strip, Snow, but the other two are great. I'll cross my fingers for you on #2. The stats so far reflect that most of us didn't have birthday parties. I think we should all get together for a mass birthday celebration and eat Chinese food since everyone seems to like it.:)

Do you have a favorite newspaper comic strip? Not really

Charles said...

L.A.? I seem to be missing things lately, maybe I'm getting senile early.

Serena said...

Yay! Lee had a birthday party! Your timber-lined walls sound lovely. Aren't old family photos and books wonderful mementoes? I have a few such items.

Los Angeles, Charles. Yesterday's StupidDramaFest dreamed up by the hydra-headed multiple personality from that very spot.:-)

1. The Peanuts is tender, poignant and quietly religious.

2. I have a recurring dream in which a helicopter hovers above me, like a mothership. I am able to ascend into it, and as soon as we get forward momentum, I develop the ability to fly and exit through the window, waving at the pilot.

3. I welcome all voices. It's the world, is all.

4. No, although I had an absolutely massive one the year before. There was a psychedelic surf band, hula dancing, free t-shirts and strangers making out in the corner.

5. I bought a piece of outsider art off the wall of a restauant I was dining at in Virginia. I walked out with it under my arm. The artist's name is Sydney Meers, who also happened to be the chef.

6. I have all sorts of special objects. I keep magical totems in my pockets; my grandfaher's ID bracelt from the war, polished rocks that radiate magic, a marble.

7. Oh, it's the warmest cream that drifts into yellow. It is the colour of home, of a mother cooking and a dog sleeping.

8. In general, I prefer Thai or Korean, or Japanese, for that matter, but I have been to an absolutely stellar Chinese restaurant called The Royal Treasure. Fast food take-out is lame, regardles of the country of origin, and you know, one billion people can't be wrong, can they?

Serena said...

Anonymous, I swear you have the soul of a poet. I am just savoring your answers, particularly #3, 6, and 7. How lovely! And I sure would like to have been invited to your birthday party. Some Anons, like that effin' Lisa-Lisa, suck. You rock.:)

Trée said...

What would be missed is the headache of Vista. :-)

Serena said...

I wholeheartedly agree with you about #3, Galen. Stupid shit should be seen by one and all. If there's ever another fakey-fakey, I'll post that, too.

Almond Boneless Chicken? I've never had that, but it sounds good.

Hey, you added a question -- a double-barreled one. And you don't hear me complaining, either. Yeah, baby! And Galen! You wrote me a poem and I didn't even have to ask. I love it. Love it, love it. Thank you.:-)

3. How do you deal with Internet crazies? I shut down my blog last time. Now I have comment moderating.

4. Did you have a party on your last birthday? Sort of...we had a cake and presents. No guests, just us. The home-made cards were the best!

5. What was your last big-ticket purchase? I think we're about to spend $800 having our air-conditioner leveled so it works better. Prior to that, I think it was our house...2 years ago!

7. What color are the walls in your favorite room in your home? I have lots of favorite rooms here, and I have to admit that I haven't painted anything yet. I'm working on the so-called Master Bath at this moment, but even though I've picked colors for the other walls, I haven't had time to paint them.

8. Do you like Chinese food? Yes!!

Serena said...

VE, I think being out of the country on one of your fabulous trips qualifies as a HELL OF A birthday celebration.:) I'm really glad you were able to salvage your nose from childhood. You wouldn't be the same without it.

Mona, #5 = expensive. Ooooo! You made sentences with the WGWs!! LOL! That #3 one is hysterical.

I think a Vampwolf would be a wondrous thing to see. And be.:) I saw that deal about the sex toys. They hit a number of people.

Re your #3, TC, I've LAUGHED until I've cried over mine. They think they're so cute and stealthy. They're not. Wow, that TV of yours sounds awesome. You really don't like Chinese food? Miss B forgives you about the question.:)

Re YOUR #3, Greeny, they're all over the place, too much so to shut anything down -- which is what they want anyway -- which is why I'd never do it. My dear, cake and presents absolutely qualifies as a party! #5 -- I didn't even know ACs needed to be leveled -- or that it cost so much. #6 -- Really?! Awwwwwww!!!

Calvin and Hobbes is great, but come on people, BLOOM FREAKING COUNTY!!! Opus, Bill the Cat, Hogdgepodge, Steve Dallas, Milo Bloom, Reagan-Ann! These are characters for the ages. I am shocked. Shocked I tell you.

Serena said...

I was shocked once. I believe it was around 1973.:-)

Am I shocked to see L.A. lurking this morning? Hell, no!

Corn Dog said...

The helicopter pilot was trying to get some sort of romantic view for the proposal but it was a windy day. Finally I yelled out something like, "Let's get on with it or I'm gonna puke." I totally ruined the guy's proposal but I had to. Later on the ground after an hour or so I found the lucky couple and apologized. They thought it was funny fortunately.

The contractor called back and said he has been busy other places. He said he has not forgotten about us. That was 2 weeks ago. That's okay. We contacted him about 5 years ago to redo the bathroom so technically we re the slow ones.

There is a a Chinese restaurant on every street corner here, sometimes 7 or 8. Anytime a vendor vacates a shop, we hope another one does not move in. I am in the minority in my neighborhood. Right now I would say Chinese are the majority. My next door neighbor cooks some stuff that drives me nuts it smells so good.

Serena said...

It's good that the bridal couple had a sense of humor, CD. LOL. Good luck with the contractor. Guess what I had for dinner? Yep. Chinese.:-)

Camille Alexa said...

1. Do you have a favorite newspaper comic strip?
Get Fuzzy, and anything by Lynda Barry.

2. Have you ever ridden in a helicopter?
Nope.

3. How do you deal with Internet crazies?
Do I have to?

4. Did you have a party on your last birthday?
If I don't remember, is that a bad sign, or a good one?

5. What was your last big-ticket purchase?
A home in Portland, Oregon.

6. Do you have a special item that you've kept since you were a child?
A few things. Of note: a couple sterling silver antique costume rings my mother bought me at yard sales in the 70s; my little 1950s child's suitcase I was given when we moved from Philadelphia to Texas (I was four, so I guess my thing for vintage stuff started early); a few toys and books; and a set of handmade stencils of African animals.

7. What color are the walls in your favorite room in your home?
Windows. Walls of windows, through which spills sun.

8. Do you like Chinese food?
Good Chinese food is some of the best food in the world; bad Chinese food is inedible.

Serena said...

Camille, what lovely things you kept from your little-girl days.:)
