Hey, what does HNT stand for?

1. Do you prefer to travel by car, bus, train, or plane? no choice these days. I take the bus so I prefer it. In fact, I have lost all sense of driving and if left to my own devices I get people to take bus routes now if they ask me how to get somewhere.

2. What's your favorite berry? tough one. blueberry or strawberry

3. Were you a Girl/Boy Scout? Girl

4. Whether you answered #3 in the affirmative or not, can you make fire without matches? no

5. Are you claustrophobic? no

6. Despite your answer to #5, have you ever been caving? yes

7. What is your spectator sport of choice? baseball

I liked the Abbey Rd plate that you saw. I haven't seen many cool ones around here but I'm always on the lookout.

HHNT! You look great.

LOL, CD. I was a Girl Scout who can't make fire, too -- except accidentally. I'm torn between strawberries and blackberries. I'm a bit claustrophobic but I've been caving, too, and thought it was pretty cool. I just refused to let myself think about dark, tight places with tons of rock above me.:)

HNT = Half-Nekkid Thursday

Thank you very much, BW. If only I remembered to jot down all the cool plates I see, I'd have a much longer list.:)

5. Are you claustrophobic? No

6. Despite your answer to #5, have you ever been caving? yes

1. Do you prefer to travel by car, bus, train, or plane? Yes.

2. What's your favorite berry? Rasberry, the Bronx cheer, not the fruit.

3. Were you a Girl/Boy Scout? There's not a lot of Girl/Boy combos out there, how likely would it be, since I was only a boy?

4. Whether you answered #3 in the affirmative or not, can you make fire without matches? Sure, I can make fire a bunch of ways. I used to think maybe I was a firebug.

5. Are you claustrophobic? No, I like Santa.

6. Despite your answer to #5, have you ever been caving? I cave whenever I have no choice.

7. What is your spectator sport of choice? Which, to participate in or to watch?

1. I'm thinking those Star Trek transporters would be my preference. I've got my name on the waiting list for one as soon as they get invented.
2. Halle
3. No, but I did my fair share of scouting for girls.
4. Sure, I've fired several people
5. No, but I'm argumentative...why do you want to know?
6. Yes...and I've even caved in on several major decisions too.
7. Women's beach volleyball of course!

One of the easiest ways to make fire without matches, is to use a lighter.
There's the concentration of sun rays, there's pool chlorine and brake fluid, there's gun powder, there's use of hot coals, there's flint and steel, there's acetylene and igniter, there's the welding arc, there's chlorine gas and sodium, there's even the rubbing two sticks together, although I never had the time or energy to follow through to a flame. This probably doesn't even scratch the surface.

Serena said...

Roxan, I think you, Corn Dog, and I need to dig into a strawberry cheesecake.

Um, re your answer to #4, Charles, I think I'm worried about you. LOL.

I don't blame you for your #2 answer, VE. She's gorgeous. I understand your #3, too. I liked the Boy Scouts better than my fellow Girl Scouts, which is probably why I flunked fire making.:)

What I had in mind, Charles, was making fire with nothing but sticks and rocks.:)

Charles said...

You didn't say that was what you had in mind. ;)
I was just listing some of the things that came to mind that I have seen or done or read of. There's also the oily rags pile that as it oxidizes can build enough heat to spontaneously combust, which makes three of my list that I've never actually seen or done.

Oops, Charles. You do know that males are supposed to be able to read the minds of females?:-)

Oh, dear, /t. -- I hope Lamby doesn't see your #4. It might scare her and give her nightmares about those lamb-kabob thingys.:) #6, I think there's a program for caving craving. #7 -- sorry, only in countries whose names contain more than three syllables, 6 vowels, and no consonants.:-)

No, but I can make plenty-o-fires with food!! hehehehe!

5. Are you claustrophobic?
No, but I don't really like to be in crowded aisles in stores.

No, but I want to take Snickers really bad and we have an awesome one here.

7. What is your spectator sport of choice?
Baseball, although it is my least favorite sport to watch on tv!! :P

Happy Thursday!!

Charles said...

I've been told that before, but I've yet to have developed the knack for it.

BTW, I imagine the hell I've raised could be considered fire without a match.

Serena said...

I love the penguin, too, Snow. And thanks about the shoes -- you can borrow them any time. Blueberry muffins -- yum. LOL at your #4; sounds like you cook like I do.:) Caves -- yeah. I'll bet Snickers would love it. I've been in some really awesome caverns -- and some scary off-the-beaten-path caves where I really shouldn't have gone.

It does take the "knack," Charles. LOL. Um, fire by hell raising is probably preferable to spontaneous combustion, don't you think?:)

My answers, since what's good for the goose...

Strawberries and blackberries

3. Were you a Girl/Boy Scout?

A little bit.

Yes.

7. What is your spectator sport of choice?

Now, how'd I know you'd say car, G?:) Oh, goody, another blackberry lover. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Hot cobbler with a flaky crust, oozing blackberries, and vanilla ice cream on top. Ooooooooooooo. Re your #3, yay! I do love preparedness. Your #4 puts me to shame. LOL.

1. Do you prefer to travel by car, bus, train, or plane?
Train, no contest.

2. What's your favorite berry?
Boysen- or marion- or white rasp-.

3. Were you a Girl/Boy Scout?
No, but it was the cheapest way for my parents to send me away for a few weeks every summer, so I went to Girlscout Camp. I was a Bluebird from Kindergarten through second grade. Again, I suspect it was more an issue of cheap after-school day care (I walked the couple blocks from the house to Bluebirds). Do they still even have Bluebirds?

4. Whether you answered #3 in the affirmative or not, can you make fire without matches?
No. But a damn good one with.

5. Are you claustrophobic?
Situational.

6. Despite your answer to #5, have you ever been caving?
Yes. Gibraltar is hollow and riddled with caves. It's thought that's how the "Barbary Apes" migrated there from Morocco. Also, Austin has tons of caves, and the largest urban Free-tailed Bat population in North America.

7. What is your spectator sport of choice?
TV? Curling. Live? Bridge.

Serena said...

I don't know about Bluebirds, Camille. Was that Canadian? When I was little, baby Girl Scouts were Brownies. I would LOVE to see the Gibraltar caves. Of course, I'd make sure I had some matches in my pocket.:) WHITE raspberries? I've never seen those.

Yay, Pinks -- a sister Brownie! Just think of the damage we could have done if only we could have mastered that damn fire thing.:)

Dear Larry, here's a prime example of the "great minds" maxim. Kanrei already asked that question, which is answered today.:)

Dear Sassypants, Miss has a whole 'nother week to think about how to answer that without giving away too much.:)

Serena Joy,
I'd never seen white raspberries either until about a month ago. then I couldn't get enough of them, though they're very delicate and their season fleeting. They taste like champagne, if champagne tasted as good as it could. Amazing.

I was in Bluebirds in Austin, Tx. i wonder if they were 'Campfire Girls' instead of 'Girl Scouts'? I had to take a quarter in my pocket every week and wear my uniform to school.

**yep: just looked it up on wikipedia. Bluebirds is the youngest tier of Campfire Girls.

"In 1913, the "Blue Bird" program was introduced for younger girls and offered exploration of ideas and creative play built around family and community life. In 1989 the "Blue Bird" level became the "Starflight" level."

Serena said...

Yeah, strawberry cheesecake for TC, too. And welcome to the Can't Make Fire Club.:)

Wow, Camille, I'm going to look for some white raspberries. They sound wonderful. I've heard of Campfire Girls, though they're not in my area. I guess that's why I'm not familiar with Bluebirds.:)

Hale McKay said...

Nice pic - as usual.

1) - I prefer to drive

2) - Since others before have dibs on Halle, I'll go with strawberries.

3) - I was never a girl, but I have scouted for girls. (I didn't belong to the Scouts)

4) - YEs. With sticks -hard. With two pieces of flint - easier.

5) - Afraid of Santa Claus? Nah.

6) - Yes.

7) - Football
