Faux-for-All

Mood: Expectant.
Outlook: Open.
Forecast: Whatever will happen, will happen.

This looks to me like an excellent day to write some ... poetry. We had a lot of fun with haiku writing, and I'd like to do something similar today. We're going to play fast and loose with the rules, however. There is, of course, a formula for haiku:

First line - 5 syllables
Second line - 7 syllables
Third line - 5 syllables

We're changing the formula, just for today, to 4-2-4.

For example:

In my inner
Self lies
Dichotomy.

Naturally, we can't call it haiku. Perhaps you all could come up with a suitable name for it. Meanwhile, please -- write away! It pains me to admit that once again, I lacked the foresight to come up with prizes. You'll do it anyway for the sheer love of writing something, won't you?

As long as we're being interactive today, let's play Twenty Questions -- or, to keep it short and sweet, Seven Questions.

1) I want ________________.
2) I wish ________________.
3) I love ________________.
4) I hate ________________.
5) I am __________________.
6) I hope I never ___________.
7) I hope that I ____________.

[My answers:

1) I want calm.
2) I wish I were more organized.
3) I love Spring.
4) I hate chaos.
5) I am an eternal dreamer.
6) I hope I never lose my sense of humor.
7) I hope that I get it all together in the end.]

As an aside, the ankle is feeling much better. My ankle bone still hurts if I poke it, but the swelling is gone. I'll be in good shape as long as the dog doesn't make any further assassination attempts in the next few days. She's awfully quiet this morning, however. Sometimes, silence isn't golden; it's just damn scary. She could be plotting. I suspect she's secretly coveting that dog food she saw the commercial for and which I didn't buy her. I'm keeping my eye on her.

You Are Sauvignon Blanc

Engaging and energetic, you have a lot to offer the world - most of it they've never seen anywhere else!

The only thing predictable about you is that you could have anything up your sleeve.
You're all about sampling all of life's experiences. Both the savory and unsavory ones.

Deep down you are: Laid back and young at heart

Your partying style: Anything goes... seriously!

Fresh, spirited, and classic - you have many facets to your personality.
You can be sweet and light. Or deep and complex.
You have a little bit of something to offer everyone... no wonder you're so popular.
Approachable and never smug, you are easy to get to know (and love!).

Deep down you are: Dependable and modest

Your partying style: Understated and polite

Your company is enjoyed best with: Cold or wild meat.

If they say so, it must be so.

You goddamn deck,
just a
teetering pile.

Humid summer:
folks wilt,
flowers flourish.

Pressure washer,
I love
and hate you too.

Thirty eight is
awkward;
almost forty.

Beautiful boys
run big,
leap high, yell loud.

For sure, Steve.:)

Love your short-kus, Greeny. Still having problems with the evils of the deck, I take it. LOL.

And I take it you don't like short-form, Charles.:-) On a serious note, yes, world peace and an end to war would be highly desirable.

Trée, why am I not surprised that you, The Unsweet, hate sugar in your coffee?:-) I hate that, too. I consider sweetener in coffee pollution. Beautiful short-ku -- and NOT sweet.:)

***You Are Pinot Gris***

More hip than most, you spot trends before they even really get started.
If something is new and unique, you know about it... and you've probably tried it.
You have a good number of projects, interests, and relationships - but they are all fleeting.
The world is so appealing and diverse, you can't help but seek variety.

Deep down you are: A true flirt

Your partying style: Exclusive. You only party with people you've personally selected.

Your company is enjoyed best with: A big bowl of pasta

I want to be secure

I wish I could change past decisions

I love my children

I hate where I live

I am getting where I want to be

I hope I never give up

I hope that I win a big fat lottery!

I hate Haiku
I do
Haiku sucks eww

Funny they should say that seeing I prefer red wine to white!

I'll stick with my Cab Savs or Shiraz!

Serena said...

LOL, Roxan. You might well win the prize for worst short-ku.:-)

Orioles losing, T? Somehow I don't believe you tested out as MD 20/20.:-)

No red wine for me, Lee. It gives me headaches. I'm not actually big on white wine, either; gives me heartburn.:)

rkfinnell said...

Good, I don't want to write good short ku or whatever. LOL

Serena said...

No, Roxan, you're kidding! I couldn't tell. LOL.

rkfinnell said...

You are Ripple

Dirty, smelly, five o'clock shadow and plumber butt.
You can belch the national anthem, accompanied by a one cheek sneak chorus.
Everyone avoids you.

Serena said...

LMAO, Roxan. I guess it DOES have some bad hooch answers.:-)

I want to take your dog for a walk. Maybe on a beach. Playing fetch into the water, she returns to me just ahead of the surf, happily clutching a branch in her mouth.

I wish that my parents were happier.

I love the New York skyline that includes the twin towers. The moon, too. The sight of people being moved to tears out of love.

I hate people who want to move the bus stop from in front of their home, to in front of somebody else's home.

I am hallelujah. I am made of stars, and so are you. I am wearing a size eight shoe and am aces at ping pong. IQ of 103.

I hope I never become a golf fanatic.

I hope that I stay in love, in love with it all.

word.

Those are beautiful answers, Anon.

This is a tough series of questions! Okay, here goes ...

1) I want candy.
2) I wish hot dogs and buns came in equal amounts.
3) I love to blog "au naturale".
4) I hate that "W" is only limited to 2-terms.
5) I am Iron Pug.
6) I hope I never drop my TV into the tub.
7) I hope that I never get tired of the Geico Cavemen.

And WTF? Am I REALLY a can of Sterno? Geez, that's not even a LEGAL intoxicant, is it? These tests always seem to associate me with activities that *allegedly* cause blindness.

Charles said...

Any form of Haiku is like fat, you have to use it to lose it.

Serena said...

LOL, Pug. I'm pretty sure you can get away with #3, and #6 should never happen as long as you stay off the Sterno. #3 won't cause blindness -- it's an urban legend -- but #6 could.:-)

So true, Charles. So true.:-)
