Monday Again -- How'd That Happen?

myspace layouts

I spent a lot of my weekend holed up with a couple of books and some leftover Halloween candy. Clearly, it doesn't take much to entertain me. I've never been one who required constant entertaining and have never understood people who have a need to be constantly on the go. Frankly, I find that tiresome. Which is not to say I'm a hermit. I'm not, and I'd find that much solitude unbearable. I stay plenty busy; like, for example, when my SO is around.

I'm one who appreciates the simpler pleasures of life, I guess. Growing up in a noisy, chaotic household, I learned young how to steal off to a quiet corner and amuse myself. I suppose I've never entirely grown out of it because I still prize quiet solitude whenever and wherever I can find it. I've always appreciated having time and space to think and to contemplate all the ifs, ands, and buts of life. I've by no means unraveled the puzzle but sometimes I think I'm getting close. Maybe.

Quiet contemplation will not be the case today. It's a workday, where I'm supposed to think coherently in the midst of noisy chaos. Which just means I'll close my door and do whatever the heck I feel like doing. There is at least one benefit to having the upper hand in an environment where nobody else knows the first thing about how to do my job. Boss Lady ain't about to fire me, not even if I paint myself blue and set my hair on fire.

Have a lovely Monday, my pretties.

I should have sent the gnomes over. They know just how to ruin a nice moment of solitude...

The Unibomber also read a lot of books. Just sayin'.

I rarely get those precious moments alone. As a kid my mom called me anti-social because I'd either hole up in my room with a book and the stereo going or in the cedar closet where the old Royal typewriter was. My own personal writing nook.

I read books I probably shouldn't have at a young age, including Portnoy's Complaint. LOL

It is, Galen? Geez, you'd think somebody would do me the kindness of putting it out, then.:)

Aww, send them on over, VE. I like sharing my solitude with gnomes. I like gnomes, period.:-)

Perhaps he did, Pugsley, but ... I'm cuter.:-)

Me, too, Roxan. I liked bike riding and exploring and general hell raising, but I also craved my private reading time -- which my mother never could understand. And I'll give you 2 guesses as to which of us was the weird one.:)

No, madamoiselle, your hair is the fire of autumn color, or the sun rise on yon clouds.

Better, you can eat candy; the sun, can't.

Why, merci, Monsieur Skunk. With such a pretty description, maybe I'd better not set it alight. I'll just eat more candy instead.:)
