1. What's your favorite song?

2. In one word, what is it about? We'll call that the "subject."

3. Then, use 4 words to embellish and describe that subject.

4. Now, using the 5 words you just used above somewhere within it, write a haiku about your answer to #2.

Now that we're in the mood to play with words, TWISTED LINGUISTICS would like to see how you define these Words Gone Wild blasfomies.

I can't follow nyd. Why'd he have to be first? No fair, no fair. His Haiku is too good...all I can come up with is Dr. Suess...

I don't like green eggs and ham

My God, NYD, forget the song. Your haiku is heartbreakingly beautiful. So much so that it needs a spot of its own on the poetry blog.

Well, VE, I don't care for green eggs and ham, either, so I'd say it's for damn sure haiku-worthy. So there.:-)

I don't think I know that song, Kan, but boy does your answer to #3 sum up the mystery of life. That is IT.:)

kan - Baker Street? Wow! I love
Baker Street. It used to play all the time when I was cruising back in the 70s. Good call!

thespiians - Actors who do impressions of math terms, such as pi.

victem - the opposite of evictem.

condolances - condominium accessories found in Arthurian Era castles; usually hung on wall next to condomaces and condoswords.

gargbage - oral ejecta; the spittle produced from gargling mouthwash.

Kuddos - the chores not done on a redneck's "Honey-Do List." (Pronounced "could dos.") Ant. "couldn't dos."

bruses - contusions (bruises) incurred from the stopping and starting of a bus with standing room only.

I pass on the other two.......

Say Serena, how come you haven't jumped on the "Followers" fad yet? You're usually on top of these new widgets.

favorite song: Careless Whispers ( George Michael )

Subject: deception

love, betrayal, breakup, guilt

Love is not easy
Entails deception 'n betrayal
Leads to break up guilt.

Good Lord, Skunk, I sure hope that's not one of those self-fulfilling prophecies!:-)

Awesome definitions, Mike. You're so good at this. Followers -- I just haven't had time to play with widgets. Perhaps in time...:)

I like that song, too, Galen. And hey, it sounds like you've had a good summer. That's great!:)

I haven't heard that song in a while, Mona. George would do better at love with the right person. When it's right, it's easy. No guilt. No worries.:)

I think Careless Whisper is one of the greatest songs EVER, myself!!

I know the melody, Galen, but can't remember the words. I see a visit to YouTube in my future.:)

Time can never mend the careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind, ignorance is kind
there's no comfort in the truth
pain is all you'll find

Should've known better

I feel so unsure
as I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
as the music dies, something in your eyes
calls to mind the silver screen
and all its sad good-byes

I'm never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
and waste the chance that I've been given
so I'm never gonna dance again
the way I danced with you

Time can never mend
the careless whispers of a good friend
to the heart and mind
ignorance is kind
there's no comfort in the truth
pain is all you'll find

I'm never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
and waste this chance that I've been given
so I'm never gonna dance again
the way I danced with you

Never without your love

Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we'd want to say

We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But noone's gonna dance with me
Please stay

And I'm never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
and waste the chance that I've been given
so I'm never gonna dance again
the way I danced with you

(Now that you're gone) Now that you're gone
(Now that you're gone) What I did's so wrong
that you had to leave me alone
