SJ's Saturday Jam

Your task today is to write me a haiku (one, or as many as you wish) which includes the word "black." Why black? Why, because today's video is Pearl Jam's most excellent Black. Enjoy.

Just to demonstrate that it won't hurt a bit, I'll go first.

High heels, crooked stair,
Renders her a study in
Shades of black and blue.

Have a wonderful weekend.Y

Black T-shirt and shorts,
Music doesn't come from me,
I don't belong here.

Stubborn man, black soul,
misinform, mislead, not smart,
he is George Bush, too.

Bright white blinding me,
I shrink away from what is,
My light fades to black.

All Encompassing,
Black of night surrounds the world
I awaken from sleep.

Haiku includes black,
I'm wondering why oh why
Post ends with a "Y".

Rainbow shades of light.
Each the absence of color
Black and white prevail.

Very nice, Snow. And a happy Saturday to you!:)

I like that bold proclamation, Puggy.:)

My goodness, Charles, you certainly got into this assignment. Nice writing!:)

I like your haiku very much, Sling. So much said in so few words.:)

I like it, Scary! Very much.:)

Ain't got Jack for black,
this brain to rack, words to hack,
slack in the sack: black.

Thank for that, Ms Joy

I hate to point out that's not a haiku. Its nice, and I like it, but it doesn't follow the 5-7-5 syllable pattern.

Did I win?

CD, you're damn straight you win one of my nonexistent prizes. LMAO! I didn't even know there was a YouTube of that old song. You know what that dancing reminded me of? The old gym class exercise that went, "We must, we must, we must improve our bust!":-)

Yep. That's exactly what that video is like except replace the vinyl boots with dirty sneakers.

Nancy is all sexpotish in this video, isn't she? And it's all out of sync. "You've been messin' whar you shouldn't have been messin'" she sings. How great is that.

I need to take some Haiku lessons. All I ever write is comedi-Haiku. That's the second contest I have won here though. I'm proud. I'm putting this trophy (or lack thereof) on my bookshelf.

One more thing I'd like to point out. Nancy's go go boots were black. Everyone else's at the time were white. SHe was a REBEL with perfectly quaffed hair that took a whole can of spray. Every hair in place but those black boots screaming, "I break with convention Daddy Frank." Or not.

Serena said...

CD, honey, I am going to make you up a trophy you can proudly display (or hide in your spam folder) because I personally love comedic haiku.

Now I know why my rebel days weren't all that successful -- I didn't use enough hairspray. What a maroon I were.:)

I have a Haiku in Hindi to share :

samne aaye mere dekhaa mujhe baat bhi ki

Muskuraye bhi puraane kisi rishte ke liye

Kal Ka akhbaar tha bas dekh liya rakh bhi diya...

[ He faced me, saw me and even talked to me/ He even smiled at me for the sake of the old times/ (I was) like last night's newspaper that he took a brief look at, and then kept away...]

Woh mere saath hi thaa door tak magar ek din

mudh kar jo dekha woh aur mere saath na tha

Jeb phat jaaye to kuch sikke bhi kho jaate hain

[ He was with me for long enough then one day/ when I turned back and looked he was no longer there/ when you have a permanant hole in your pocket you tend to lose some coins...]

Umr ke khel mein ek tarfaa hai yeh rassa kashi

Ek siraa mujh ko diyaa hotaa to kuch baat bhi thi

Mujh se tagdaa bhi hai aur samne aataa bhi nahin

[ The tug of war is one sided as far as the age is concerned/ had He(God)given me one end then it would have been a fair game indeed/ Although stronger than, me why does He hesitate to face me...]

no black there Serena.. yet all dark...

Serena said...

Dark indeed, Mona. Definite shades of dark grey if not outright black.
