...waits for no one. Or, so saith the song. But -- maybe it does. Or can. Or will if you treat it well.
I have a thing for clocks and this one (in my den) is my favorite. It chimes with a good strong bong which I love. If I forget to wind it and it runs down and doesn't chime during the night, I can't sleep until I get up and come downstairs and wind it.
There's another pendulum clock in the den, a small porcelain one, white with painted flowers on it, as well as the clocks on the computer, TV, and telephone.
In the living room are two more chiming clocks, both mantel clocks (one an antique), and clocks on the TV and phone. There's another clock (chimes disabled) in the dining room, one in the kitchen (along with clocks on the stove, microwave, and coffeemaker), one in the bathroom, a small Seth Thomas that sits on a table in the hallway, three in the downstairs bedroom, and a black lacquer Art Deco clock on the console in the foyer.
There's a large, round Chinese red lacquer clock hanging on the wall going up the stairs, and a crystal clock on the chest in the upstairs foyer. In my bedroom is an "anniversary clock" with a glass dome, my alarm clock, and the clocks on the computer and TV. Also scattered about upstairs are another crystal clock, one chiming and one non-chiming wall clock, a novelty clock, a wind-up, ringing alarm clock, and ... more computer and TV clocks.
I believe that comes to a total of about 21 clocks, and my collection is not finished. Some people find my predilection with clocks odd. They wonder if I'm preoccupied, even obessed, with time -- or the passage thereof. I'm not. I just like clocks, and the louder they tick and chime and bong, the better I like them.
There is a reason I'm talking about clocks and ... time. It's so I won't have to think about the minute hands slouching onward toward this afternoon's unpleasant events. There's been no word yet that it's off, so I guess the rumble is on. Joy, joy.

Continuity is crutial
Is that like, "Life is like a box of chocolates," only "Continuity is like a bowl of croutons"?
Good luck out there today. Don't assosicate anyone.
Serena...
I love collecting old radios, so I fully understand your fascination with clocks.
You have an itch?
I have the Calamine Lotion!!!!!...Baby!!!
xoxox
LOL, Camille. It's exactly like a bowl of croutons.:) I wouldn't mind a bowl of croutons right now. I feel practically barfy. Nerves. Ugh. Don't worry, I'll perform any assocications outside so I don't have to clean up the mess.
Oh, good, BDG, then you know what I'm talking about with the collecting. Yeah, give me the lotion. Prickly heat's pretty dang itchy. I hate to scratch in public, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.:-)
I tend to ignore clocks simply because of how slowly they move during the work day and how fast they move on my time. It is torture. I don't even wear a watch.
Good luck today and remember you have the power of the redhead on your side. Pity the poor fool stupid enough to tangle with the redhead.
I hate to scratch in public, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.:-)
Film at 11?
Ambrosia sings a song and part of the lyrics are
time waits for no one,
time waits for no one
it really doesn't matter much to me
I know the best times are timeless

You're braver than I, Kan. If I didn't wear a watch, I would never be anywhere at any time. Yeah, we're gonna teach that dumbass to tangle with redheads. He'll never the same. LOL.
With my luck, yes, film at 11:00. Damn paparazzi. A girl can't even enjoy a good scratch in private any more.:-)
Thank you, TC. I don't know how to fix them when they break, but I do love them.
I think I sort of remember that song, but I didn't know who sang it.
Yikes on your fortune. Look out for grinning crocodiles!
Time is relative, Einstein told us that. I live in a time bubble where it moves slowly in relation to other's. That's why all the folks my age look so much older than I do. Yeah, riiight. 21 clocks are about too many. I have the ones built-in to appliances, the DVD/VCR, the computers, my coffee maker, my Nuke (microwave), my TVs, and an alarm clock, then my watch. THAT's too many. Plus the one built-in to me. It runs slow.
Let's hope the itch you scratch is that neighbor. Then maybe a notch on the handle.

:-( I hope this one is wrong..I don't like insincerity..
I'm in the antique business and hardly collect anything...I'd rather sell it..
HUGS!!
Time is relative, Einstein told us that.
In that it slows down when spending time with certain relatives I think he meant. =D
Au contraire, M. Charles. 21 clocks is not enough! My internal clock works sometimes, but I can't trust it. I need all the help I can get.
I didn't get the neighbor's notch on my belt. Not yet. I'll write up the circus that transpired today and post it tomorrow.
Ooo, I hope that's wrong, too, Leelee. You deserve complete sincerity. So, do you have any antique clocks I might be interested in?
Oh, Lord, Kan, do you ever have that right. Spending time with some relatives makes time STAND STILL.
I have a love/hate relationship with clocks. I hate the little clock in the right-hand corner of work computer--it moves to slow.

Deep into your future, I forsee: A creepy puppet
I could have sworn another song said time was on my side.
That one always runs in slow motion, T. I believe it's a rule of nature. If you could get them to buy you a new computer, it's possible it might move a little faster. You think?
Good God, Roxan, a creepy puppet? Is there any way to work that into your storyline? I don't like puppets. I think they're all creepy.
I see your out on parole for the night.LOL
See ya in the morning Mrs Matlock.

only one..check THIS out..not sure it's what you are looking for, but hey..you asked!
I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with time, but there is a certain amount of comfort when moving from room to room, that there is clock to be viewed in each one.
(There is one in the bathroom too.) And ... for as long as I can remember, I sleep wearing my watch.
Speaking of time, take some to check out what Robert Frost, Jack Kerouac and myself had to say about the chicken crossing the road over at VT.
Funny you should mention clocks. About ten months ago and me be pretty sure it were a Tuesday me wer either reading an article or watching a news report about how to properly dispose of your clock. Here in Lilliput, where time is held in the highest regard, some people actually take their timepieces to a shinto shrine to have them blessed and give them thanks for all the years of service that they have provided.
They do that fer stuffed animals too.
Animism be a wacky thang.
STOMP.
LOL, TC. I was a good girl. I didn't bite, claw, or kick anybody so they let me leave.
You know, Leelee, I actually kind of like that clock.
For me, at least one clock in every room is a must, Mike. It kind of keeps me grounded, you know what I mean? Especially in the bathroom. If I didn't have one in there, I'd still be fooling with my hair half an hour after I was supposed to be at work.:-)
Scary, what IS the proper way to dispose of a dead clock? You don't have to bury them, do you? I prefer to use them in rituals myself. It's the animism thing.:)
Hey Serena!
I have a love of watches and I don't know why. My watch broke a few months back and I'm hoping to replace it for my birthday!
I have an anniversary clock too--it belonged to my boss's mother in St Louis and he gave it to me after she passed away. I absolutely treasure it.
--snow
Hey, Miss Snow. Watches are every bit as cool as clocks. I just wish they still made wind-up watches because I am hell on batteries. I seem to kill them in record time. I hope you get your birthday watch!
I have NO concept of time. I have one watch Timex put a special back on so it would not speed up, slow down and die. I've had it about 20 years now. It is the only one that can survive my magnetism.
Serena! How are you? I have been so anxious about you and have prayed that everything turns out well for you! I hope that neighbour thing is over!
So many clocks! My goodness!
Time? Isnt that relative?
BID BID BID!!! :-)
I don't know what it is about you, me, and watches, CD. It's very strange.
Hi, Mona. It's not over, but it's okay. Stop worrying! And thanks so much for your good thoughts.
I just might, Leelee. I'll let you know if I get it.
After all this time, I just now find out you collect clocks....
very cool.
quid
No kidding, Quid? I thought I'd let the Princess Pack in on that little idiosyncrasy of mine a long time ago. I know y'all know pretty much everything else about me.:-)
How are you, babe? I'm still thinking about that thing I mentioned to you. I just haven't had time to give it the proper consideration. I will, though!
SJ....
It worked for me!!!
Although I admit, this week to being in the "alone again, naturally" phase. At least in the world of 50+ dating, I have found that there are men out there that have the #1 quality to look for in a man. Yes, you guessed it. A sense of humor.

I love a man with a sense of humor. Seriously.
