13th Stupid Breakdown...

...trumps a 19th Nervous Breakdown.

Yesterday was Friday the 13th and everything went smashingly well -- just as I knew it would. Thumbing one's nose at supposed unlucky events, symbols, objects, etc., ensures the best luck you can get. I'm not sure whether it's sympathetic magic or the antithesis of same. I don't care. I never argue with anything that works. That would be pretty damned stupid.

I have no kind words whatsoever for stupid. I've about had it up to here with the stupid that I see here, there, and yonder. And yet, stupid proliferates. If WMD proliferated half as fast, there'd be another war -- and damn well justified for a change. When Stupid #1 takes on Stupid #2 and both dig in their heels and demand the right to be as stupid as they wanna be (and -- and beg sympathy for it), great balls of fire, somebody with at least double-digit IQ points ought to zap them both. I suppose that, like the poor, the stupid will always be with us. I wonder whether sympathetic magic would work on the stupid?

So, what are you doing with your Saturday? Working? Vegetating? Having some fun? I might clean my house today. Heh. Wouldn't that be something?

Not to be morbid, but if you're interested in knowing how much your carcass will be worth, you can find out over at Camille Alexa's.

I agree 100 per cent about stupid.

I would rather be dumb than stupid.
When you are dumb you don't know any better when you're stupid you know better but do it anyway.

Your Bumper Sticker Should Be

Come to the darkside, we have cookies

tc
btw, vegging out today.:)

Yeah, TC, dumb can be overlooked. Stupid, there just ain't no excuse for.:-)

I LOVE your bumper sticker! I'd put that one on my car.

Even if the voices aren't real - they've got some great ideas

That's another good one, Roxan. I'll tell you, The Voices have never steered me wrong.:-)

I'd just like to point out that stupid is a WMD. I find the debate over dumb or stupid to be one that I'm torn over. Me, I'd rather not be either, but I'm probably at least one of them. Considering TC's definition, I'm likely stupid. I've often said about my age, I'm old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway. The trouble with Darwinism is it just takes too darned long.

Serena said...

Oh, I do dumb stuff all the time. It's not because I'm stupid, though. It's just because while I'm old enough to know better, I'm too young to care much. So see, Charles, your theory holds water. I gave up on Darwinism a long time ago. It DOES take too long. I've learned how to do dumb all by myself. Look, Ma, no hands!:-)

HO HO Ha Hee hee, you have to read
Keshi's last post.

LMAO! That's hysterical, Charles. I had no idea such a place existed. I want to move there. NOW.:-)

I have a mixed feeling about this. I feel a person is neutral and acts stupid or dumb relatively.Of course a ratio determines where his/her tilt is.
It is alright to be stupid sometimes, as long as we have something to learn from it. But to repeat the same mistake again & again... well that would be SUPERstupid.

In India we have just one sort of bumper sticker that says " buree nazar wale, tera moonh kaalaa" Meaning: Oh you with an evil eye, may you be stricken till your face is blackened!

& some go even a little further to add to it : "Teri biwi mare, tere bachche jiyein aur bade ho kar tera khoon piyein." Meaning: ... may your face be blackened & may your wife die & may your children live and when they grow up may they suck your blood

another bumper sticker says "Horn please " :D

I had a great Friday the 13th as well.
I've never found the bad luck to be any different than any other day.
My bumper sticker reads;
"Don't sweat the petty things,and don't pet the sweaty things"..maybe it's 'cause I ride a bike..

Serena said...

You have a point, Mona. To do a dumb thing is, well, dumb. To continue to do the dumb thing repetitively, is stupid.

Whoa, those are some heavy-duty Indian bumper stickers, girl.:)

Sling, I find that if luck is going to be bad, it's just as likely to do it on the 2nd, 5th, 11th, or 18th as on the 13th.

Cool bumper sticker, though I do like petting sweaty things occasionally.:-)

You know its a bad day when its Friday the Eleventeenth.

Serena said...

Oh, for sure, Charles. One shouldn't even get out of bed on the eleventeenth.:)

My bumper sticker is a slight modification of a favorite:

Dear Supreme Being: Please Protect Me From Your Various Followers

LOL, Puggy. Having a groupie problem, are you?:-)

Hey SJ! :) Happy weekend!

I cleaned too.

Mine says:

Anything worth taking seriously - is worth making fun of

Oh yea--totally me! That rocks!

I was just cycling through the bumper stickers, when it struck me that a good one would be, "WMD? GWB."

Serena said...

Clean houses rock, Snow. A cleaning every now and then keeps the house condemnation people away. It's good to know that we're both safe for another little while.:-) Cool bumper sticker.

Pinks, you're about as far from dumb as you can get. Acronyms just don't always jump right out at one. Sometimes I have to stare at them forever, and still don't get them. WMD = weapons of mass destruction.

LOL, Charles. That ought to be somebody's campaign slogan.:)

Charles said...

Too late. Fortunately for us and for the world, GWB can't run again. Thank all that is right with the American system flawed as it may be, and with the universe as unstoppable as it truly is.

SJ,
Did you delete your countdown until we get a real Prez? Where did you get that, do you remember?

HAH!
Friday the 13th did strike, only one day late! As I was trying to post a comment to your blog yesterday, my internet connection disappeared and didn't come back. I'm going to retroactively blame it on F13 mojo.

Serena Joy asks,
So, what are you doing with your Saturday?

Polished three poems (as requested by editor) for print publication and finished a sweet little space western about a girl and her mandroid.

My life is not very varied of late. I feel my cadaver's value dropping by the moment.

Serena said...

Too late. Fortunately for us and for the world, GWB can't run again.

True, Charles, but a Democrat or Independent could use it.

WMD? Remember GWB!

Did you delete your countdown until we get a real Prez? Where did you get that, do you remember?

No, it's still here. Scroll down 'til you see it, and then you can click on the link and get the code for it.

Serena said...

Oh, man, Camille, don't you hate that bad internet mojo? F13 needs to learn how to tell time.

Mandroids -- yeah! And you're moving right along with your publication schedule. Sounds pretty good to me. I should think that ought to up your cadaver value.:-)

YOUR BUMPER STICKER SHOULD READ...
"Ask Me About My Chancre"
Who thinks up this crap?
(and how do they know?)

Remember Serena...A clean house is a happy house!!...TTFN xox

Serena said...

Galen? I don't know how they know, but there's medicine for that, babe. LOL.

A clean house... What?! Have you morphed into Martha Stewart? Let me run and get my crucifix.:-)

charles..I was thinking more in terms of mistakes.
Like when you do something and you berate yourself..how could I be so stupid? or what a dumb thing to do.
As far as the big picture I am neither dumb nor stupid and I feel the same way about you.:)
