Saved

I happened to hear that song last night and sort of fell into it, if that makes any sense. I must have heard it a hundred times before, but last night it just ... spoke to me. For some reason, I heard each word, every nuance, as I had never heard it before.

Which prompted these reflections.

When I'm down and low, you pick me up.
When I'm blue, you give me back my pink.
When I'm hungry, you feed me.
When I'm sick, you watch over me.
When I'm sad, you dry my tears.
When I'm full of myself, you keep me grounded.
When I'm silly, you laugh with me.
When I'm smart, you listen to me.
When I'm stupid, you set me straight.
When I'm hurt, you give me Band-Aids.
When I want to talk, you listen; when I don't, you give me my space.
When I want to be alone, you respect my wishes.
When I'm insufferable, you love me anyway.
When I need you, you're always there.

You've saved me, and saved me from myself, more times than I can count.

Who am I talking about? I'm talking about my friends. Good friends are truly a blessing -- saving graces. I love them all and I hope they know I'll always be there when they need me.

TWISTED LINGUISTICS

doman - Guy wearing a do-rag.

liabelous - They're liable to slander you.

asscomplishments - I have no idea what this is -- but I think it's probably something I'd like.

setence - Throwing plates and silverware and stuff on the table.

Roxan found these. I have no idea what they mean, and I'm probably better off not knowing.

I wish I'd worn my horse head hat this morning. In fact, I wish I'd ridden a horse to work -- because horses at least have a sense of direction. The route I normally take was blocked off due to a fire last night, so I detoured down this street I'd never been down before. Never a good idea with me. I thought it came out on a street I am familiar with and, after about a mile of rough territory and rougher railroad crossings, it did. Alas, I turned the wrong way onto that street. I was nearly on the other side of town before I got myself acclimated and found a place to turn around. I was late to work, of course. My boss had himself a good belly laugh at my expense. Of course, he already knows not to send me anywhere I've never been before. I have no sense of direction whatsoever. Never have. This is why I've suffered some hilarious mishaps any time I've tried to drive somewhere out of town by myself. I might have lasted as long as one whole day as a pioneer woman.

I am so annoyed with Blogger! It keeps "saving" posts, which it ostensibly does automatically now. There's no "recover" function any more, which pretty well leaves you up the creek, sans paddle, and cussing for all you're worth when the SOB is lying -- which it has been. Three times now, it has said it "saved" something and didn't. When I went to edit, there was nothing there. Trying to recreate posts sucks when you've been sitting here writing stream of consciousness. It's totally pissing me off.

You Get Enough Sleep

Although sometimes it make not feel like it on Monday morning...
You are getting enough sleep.
Want to sleep better? Try wearing socks to bed and turning your clock to where you can't see it.

SJ,
Wow they must have really weird roads where you are. None of ours are made of anything that would catch fire. ;)

Drafts should save automagically. Did you try going into "Edit Posts"? You're liable to have a bunch of drafts in there.

What kind of English is "Although sometimes it make not feel like it on Monday morning..."? Stupid tests. Stupid test authors. Stupid me for thinking about it.

I know what you mean about the nuances, but I usually don't get nuanced until after I burn one..
Serena...?
Do we need to all pitch in and get you a GPS?

Have a Great Day SJ!!
You deserve it...xoxox

LOL, Charles. The street didn't burn as far as I know -- which I won't know until they reopen it and I can see for myself.

Drafts "should" save automagically, but they did not. And trust me, I looked and looked. It was just -- gone.

I did notice that the Sleep Quiz is a candidate for Twisted Linguistics.:-)

G, if y'all would take up a collection and get me a GPS, I'd love you forever. It would literally save my butt. You have a great day, too, and try to wait 'til after work to nuance.:-)

Yes, TC, new Blogger sucks a lot. I don't know where the Sleep Guru is getting this sleep in socks stuff. I can't sleep with my feet uncovered, but they also can't be in socks. It has to be just right. LOL.:-)

You are not the only one losing posts today. I had a great piece written comparing Paris coverage of her getting out with Tom Sizemore coverage of him going in. I am annoyed, but atleast I am not the only one losing things today.

Serena said...

Oh, poo, Kan. That damn friggin' suck-ass Blogger. Nope, it definitely isn't just you. I hope you can recreate it because I'm quite sure the analysis would be good reading. I like Tom Sizemore and I really hate that he's gotten himself into so many messes that he's now going to prison.

Dear S-J,
You've such a poetic soul, m'dear.

When I'm blue, you give me back my pink.

OMIGOD, Dude; does that need any embellishment?

Thank you, Camille. Sometimes something poetic will just pop out of nowhere.

No, I'm thinking dude needs no embellishment. LOL.

I removed that widget in hopes of alleviating the message problem. I'm glad to have it confirmed that it worked.

I think Blogger was copying Wordpress. I don't like it either. Just save when I tell you to save, you stupid machine.

All I heard in that song was "We've all gone crazy lately."

Blogger took the quiz and the quiz said Blogger was falling asleep at the most inoportune times. Blogger is not getting enough sleep and neither am I. ZZzzzz

Serena said...

Hello, Diesel. It would be nice if it saved when we said save. I don't think the stupid twit understands English.:-)

All I heard in that song was "We've all gone crazy lately."

CD, "They" told me not to talk about that in public. I'm okay, you're okay, we're all okay, tra-la-la. Okay, that was nice. Maybe They won't do anything to us now. Maybe.

As for Blogger, I think we ought to put it down humanely and come up with something else.

You Sometimes Don't Get Enough Sleep

You're often more tired than you'd like, and you're probably not getting enough quality sleep.
Sleeping a little more could make you a lot more energetic and happy.
Try having a bedtime, keep your bedroom cool, and only eat fruit before bed.

I'm not sure of this analysis. Personally, i think my body runs on a clock that has more than 24 hours because without any kind of time piece tracking me, I'll sleep 10 hours and be up for 18...gets wacky sometimes.

Serena said...

Seeley, we need to work on getting the 28-hour day implemented.:-)

Charles said...

Yeah, 28 hour days, and lets get the 4 hour workday pushed through, too.
I like it!

G-Man said...

...BTW, LOVED your pic today!!!

Serena said...

Yeah, Charles! With 28 hours in the day and only 4 for working, just think of all we can get done. You'll help with the lobbying, won't you?:)

Thank you, G.:-)

I always get enough sleep. Yeah, that's it.

Blogger is giving me fits tonight. All of a sudden all but the first four elements of my sidebar - just disappeared! I've spent three hours trying to figure it out - to no avail. All the elements are still there on the "edit" section and in the html - but poof - not on my blog.

It's going to be one pain typing in urls to read blogs and get to other sites - especially when I don't have them memorized.

It's late - too late/early - tomorrow is another day.

Hale McKay said...

Before turning in - for laughs - I rebooted, cleared my cache and deleted all temp files - and logged back in.

Son of a beach ball! - my sidebar was back and intact.

Goodnight!

Serena said...

I'd say enough sleep is just the right amount, T.:-)

Poor Mike! ^$%&@* Blogger. I'm glad you got your sidebar back.

Greg C said...

OMG I always thought I slept better with socks on and I have been wondering about that clock thing. I am going to try it tonight. I stayed up too late last night and I am paying for it now, Zzzzzzzzz.

Serena said...

Lose the socks and shoot the clock and you should sleep just fine, Greg.:-)

Charles said...

Sure,
I've read that if you send a fax, the assumption is that 10,000 people feel the same way. It would only take about 30,000 faxes sent, for the government to think that the entire country felt as we do. You live closer to DC, than I do, so I think you should get started, let me know when you're about halfway through and I'll pick up from there(yeah, right.)

Serena said...

I'll get on that right away. Be ready to pick up the reins in, oh, about a week or so.:)
