Iced Fever

I'm hearing strains of Berlin today. It’s suddenly so achingly cold around here it takes my breath away. Right now, it’s only 20 degrees. Factor in the wind chill and it will be below zero tonight. Maybe I should find a sultry cover of "Fever" to listen to and try to work a little sympathetic magic on myself.

I dressed in layers this morning for warmth -- cami, blouse, wool pants, and heavy sweater. It still felt chilly in the office. I had a picture of the sweater, but the quality when I uploaded it was so bad that it just ain't going to happen. The sweater is royal blue (nearly purple) and is appliqued with dogs with beaded eyes in sparkly collars and pink bows, dog bowls and bones, and paw prints. It's one of my favorites.

I am aware that I was complaining not two weeks ago that it was unnaturally warm. It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind, of course, but I do think (now) that this is one instance in which I would have preferred the unnatural. I do believe, however, that this is simply a quick shot of Winter before Spring sets in, just so Winter can say it came. I don’t believe this extreme cold will last long. After all, this guy said so.

You'd think Words Gone Wild would be tucked in somewhere warm and comfy but, no, they were out running amok and taunting the Twisted Linguistics cops.

rammifactions – Pockets of militant sheep insurgency.

incomprise - An unexpected tax bill.

silentish - Extra soft tissues for those quiet, unexpected sneezes.

whatever secedes is good - We suspect that this person is about to declare war on his manuscript.

stept in - Deep doo on the Siberian plains.

the surreption of his consentes - Signature on a permission slip obtained by sneaky means.

circumfused - Avoiding the circumcision decision.

Are you right- or left-brained?

You Are 50% Left Brained, 50% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

Me got 90% right brain ??? That is totally illogical,*Tee Hee*.
SJ, it's ok to be capricious like the weather, just stay fasionable. The sweater you described for some wierd reason, made me think of Lavere & Shirley and the pink poodle couture.
circumfused- LMAO

Scary, you too funny. I never would have associated my sweater with Laverne & Shirley. LOL! It does have on it a little white poodle with a pink bow around its neck, though.

Aren't right-brainers more analytical than lefties? I think you're probably more of a planner than I am. Probably more high-functioning in Math, too. Oh, who am I kidding? 99% of the population knows more Math than I do. I'm not really surprised that I came out 50/50. Some days, one of my halves has no idea what the other half might do.:)

30% left, 70% right :)
SJ...you have the best tests! :)
It is unbearably cold here in the south! Tomorrow they say it will be 13!!!
Ugh-
I think that is reason enough to close the schools- and work- and let us all stay in bed :)
Or at least let us stay at home in front of the fireplace!

Mayden, for some reason I thought you were up north. I'm in the South, too, and it is FRIGID. I like your idea about shutting everything down and letting everybody stay under the covers (or in front of the fire) until it warms up again.

All true. Except the sports part.

Yeah, but I still get to belong in the U.K., right?

And Serena Joy, thanks for commenting on bemused's blog. He's a real sweetie.

Of course, you can continue to lay claim to the UK, Little Bird. I don't know Bemused well yet, but he does seem like a very nice person.:)

Well, I'm 50 left, 50 right, go figure. Don't know what that means. Perhaps Roxan would know. A little rain mixed with snow here, not overly cold. Sping is just around the corner.

You antebellum ladies talkin about cold? This is the first winter in a loooooooooong time where me ain't freezing me tootsies off. A wonderfully mild 8 degrees...Celcius. Me is gonna break out me hawaiin shirt, YEAH!!!!
Stange thing is Me had to take me socks off to count to eight. Wonder where me brains is now?

"Cold As Ice" by Foreigner is more up-tempo. If you run in place while listening to it, that may do the trick, both physically AND emotionally.

Other suggestions:

Funky Cold Medina
Hazy Shade of Winter
Running on Ice (Billy Joel)
Cold, Cold Heart
Fire and Ice.

Steve, I got 50/50, too. I think that's a pretty good mix.:)

Scary, please put on more socks. Your poor toes are confused. 8 is not grounds for breaking out the Hawaiian shirt.

Puerileuwaite, yeah! "Cold As Ice" is a great old Foreigner song. It may not do much for raising my temperature, but it's now an earworm firmly entrenched in my head. LOL.

I think I'm both! Or straight down the middle!

I'm thinking split straight down the middle is the way to go.:)
