Gothic Orange

If you’re in the mood to generate some Gothic poetry, pay a visit to Littlebirdblue. I had a lot of fun with it, never mind that I creeped myself out a little bit. Even if you’re not into poetry, you ought to visit her anyway. She writes a great blog.

To show you what it does, I just played with the generator again and cranked out this heinous crime against poetry:

Night Ritual

Around, all around, the shadows gather.
My dread grows as doom's scythe falls against my naked soul.
It crushes me, and darkly my
blood drips
to the wicked earth that is my prison.
In a strange and terrible glee I call your name
while my doom takes me.
Now alone, my fervent plea falls upon darkened eyes.
This is my salvation.

I saw a news report yesterday that said the color orange aids in warding off winter blues. Wouldn't you know that orange is one of my very least favorite colors?

I have a few stream of consciousness neurons firing today, which pointed me in this direction: Sometimes you’ll meet people with whom you feel an almost instant kinship. You just “click.” There's something in the Cosmos that causes kindred spirits to tend to gravitate toward each other. It’s almost as though some deep “something” within us recognizes that same “something” in others. We're all familiar with the principle of "Like attracts like." It's fascinating to me, though, how people sense those "like" qualities in newly met others right off the bat, knowing practically nothing about them. I don't question it. I think karma takes care of the logistics and lays the ground rules. I just go with it. Of course, when you're wrong, those selfsame instincts will turn around and kick you in the teeth. It's odd how I can meet one person and feel an instant rapport with him or her but be so tongue-tied around another new person that they must seriously wonder if I speak English. I think it must have something to do with the instincts -- which still doesn't preclude the rapport person from kicking you in the teeth.

After having said karma and cosmos and such, it occurs to me that it doesn’t sound very nice of me to say in the same breath that I’m batching it until the weekend and loving the whole idea.

Tuesday with Twisted Linguistics:

have to geo back – A lost person using Geometry to find his way out of the wilderness.

Bot it looks great - Hot bionic chick.

hardley – Guy with good abs on a Harley.

petience – The quality of kindness and understanding practiced by the best animal trainers.

memioirs – A mimeographed autobiography.

ever heard the says – One kid asking another if Simon’s voice was audible to him when the command was given.

going threw hell – An aborted plan for a coup d'état in Hades.

motovate - New mode of transportation whereby you strap an outboard motor to your back and hit the road.

What kind of cake are you?

You Are a Marble Cake

Eclectic, inventive, and peaceful.
You are never willing to accept what's "normal." You live to push the envelope.
You find it hard to make up your mind. You prefer to have everything you want, right away!

Seems to hold true to our online selves as well. We are all very much alike and, considering the amount of blogs out there, it really is amazing to me that we all stumbled on each other (Ow my foot!). My computer is being operated on as we speak- the end of the POS PC I hope. I will comment more later.

I know, it really is astonishing the way a bunch of lemmings, some poets and some novelists, a not-so-scary monster, a cute pup, and assorted other blogging types all homed in on each other.

Is your computer undergoing major surgery? I wish it a speedy recovery.

***You Are a Red Velvet Cake***

Rich, decadent, and sensual.
You have a deep appeal that transcends all trends.
You are the definition of passion: intense, adventurous, and seductive.

It is going major major surgery. And plastic surgery. In fact, the only part that will remain should be some of the programs. Flat screen baby, flat screen! Oh, the recovery will be second to me- I just am wishing for the speedy part =D

You Are Strawberry Cake
Fresh, sassy, and romantic.
You're a total flirt, who never would turn down a sugary treat.
Occasionally you're a bit moody - but you usually stay sweet!

I am a sassy introvert?

Likes attracting likes sort of flies in the face of the old "opposites," doesn't it.

I can't remember how I came across most of the bloggers I read, probably most by surfing and them clicking on commenters.

(I'll never know how I started reading my own.) ;o}

Opposites do attract, but empirical evidence tells me that there had better be a whole lot of "like" involved, too. Otherwise, you quickly go into "WTF!" mode.

That's how I've met my fellow bloggers, too -- stumbling onto blogs I really like, which leads to commenters' blogs I really like, and so on and so on.

Your karma, cosmos comments reminded me of a recent posting of mine.

Isn't it amazing how kindred spirits find each other? There is no such thing as coincidence. Have you read anything about Messages from Michael?

Thanks for your super-fine gothic participation today, S-Joy. You're good.

Good luck with the Verbicide! Looks like a riot, and I bet you'll have tons of company in no time.

***You Are a Lemon Cake***

Strong, sexy, and overpowering.
You know who you are, and you're not afraid to show the world your fabulous self.
You're confident, charming, and extremely popular.

That was a very nice post, Jack. I'm sorry I missed it the first time around. No, I haven't read MFM, but I agree with you 100% that there are NO coincidences.

Thank YOU, Littlebird (you saucy lemon), for providing the means to create such bad poetry. It was a lot of fun. Those of you who haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. It drains about 5 pounds of angst in one fell swoop.

Thanks also for your Verbicidal comments. You really ought to help us commit Verbicide, either as a team member or guest contributor. You'd be great at it.

Funny thing...I was sitting here thinking I was a'chocolate cake' and when I did the quiz...that's what it says I am! "Fun, comforting, and friendly.
You are a true classic, and while you're not super cutting edge, you're high quality.
People love your company - and have even been known to get addicted to you."

Wow...I wish someone would get addicted to me!

I'm on a flying visit....I'll check that poetry site later...thanks for pointing me in the direction, Serena.

All my so-called poem says is "Be Just and Fear Not". What a gyp!

Oh, and I want to thank you for acknowledging your feelings for me. It was the aftershave, wasn't it?

Serena said...

Lee, I'm going to have to put my not-famous matchmaking skills to work and find you somebody to get addicted to. LOL.

Pugsy, even if you rolled in the stinkiest stuff around, how could I resist you? God, you sure do get gyped a lot. I'm going to have a word with the quiz masters.

I'm marbel cake too. Or I might be marble cake. One or the other.

Also I'm not keen on orange.

Must do some work now. Spend far too much time blogging.

I'm pleased with my marble cake, too, and while I don't like the color orange, I wouldn't mind having a slice of orange cake on one side of the marble and a slice of chocolate strawberry cake on the other. Cake sandwich.
