"Blood-curdling..." -- Part 27

"What?!" exclaimed Devorah. "You are displeased?"

"Nay! Far from it. You have outdone yourself. I look like ... a woman."

"Indeed," said Devorah. "You look like any other fishwife in the market place."

"Aye! And I can go where I will, do what I wish, and no one will be the wiser."

"Then go now and do that," Devorah invited her visitor who had outworn her welcome.

"I am beholden to you, Devorah. If you need any favor from me, you have only to send word."

"I doubt that any circumstances of mine would ever require your services, Haggis, nor would I trust you to come through for me if I did, but I shall keep it in mind."

"Well, good-bye, then, Devorah. And thank you."

"Um -- Haggis?"

Now Haggis is dangerous.
As a snake people would notice her: Hey, is that a big snake over there?

As an beautiful woman people would notice her: Hey, who is the looker?

As an ugly woman people would notice her: Hey, check out the trainwreck

But as an unremarkable woman she is free to exist under the radar.

Yes, but you never know what else might be on the radar. Remember what they say about being careful what you wish/ask for. Haggis isn't out of the woods yet.:)

She may walk out, but what she might walk into? And ... can she walk like an Egyptian?

LOL. Maybe she'll swipe a donut and they'll shoot her.
