Maybe It's Not Monday?

pimp myspace profile

Stupid thought because, of course, it is. Monday, I mean. It always comes. Always will, unless one simply fails to wake up some Monday morning.

How does one go about finding a new job in this atrocious economy? I've been looking for months, to no avail. Nothing. I check the newspaper classifieds every morning. Zilch. I check the state employment site and Craigslist umpteen times a day. Nada. Oh, there are jobs available, if I were willing to, say, telemarket, groom dogs, swab toilets, or babysit -- or if I were qualified for one of the numerous jobs in the medical field. For the work I do, the work I'm good at, the work I've always done, there's just nothing. Nothing advertised, anyway. Clearly, when one wants to stay within one's own area of expertise, networking is the way to go, but I have to be very careful about that because my field is a pretty insular little community and word would get back to Boss Lady pretty fast. I'm perfectly willing to get out of legal and do something else -- if only there was something else being advertised and accepting résumés. I feel like I'm backed into a corner and I don't like it one little bit.

Anyway ... Happy Monday!

You'll see, someone will toss you an ax, and you can hack your way out of that corner...You'll see!

Well, I hope you're right, Galen. I'm not so sure it's such a good idea to arm me with sharp implements just now. Or ... maybe it is!:-)

I'm not so sure an axe will do. Toss the lady a shotgun and she will clear up all her office problems. (you do know I am joking, don't you)

Personally, I think the shotgun is a better option, NYD, because my aim would be better. Disclaimer: I am, of course, joking.;)

Yeah, /t.! A rocket launcher would be ever so much more effective than any old low-tech shotgun or axe. Joking!;)

So...
In a few short hours we've gone from an ax, to a shot-gun, to a rocket launcher?

Jeeze, maybe we should just give you access to The Button!!!

(Scratch that...Knowing you I'm afraid there might be a Full Moon)

O dear Serena, I did not realize the full 'potential' of your Monday posts, until I landed a job myself!

Monday does suck!

Serena said...

Give me more info., Galen. Can I GET The Button? I want THAT! Especially since the Full Moon is inevitably coming and things are only gonna get worse. Jok-ing, dear Homeland Security.;-)

I didn't know you'd taken a job, Mona. Oh, dear! I truly hope yours isn't as bad as mine. Have a good Monday!:)

i hate to ask - but are you locked into that particular location? ya willing to move? cross-country? sometimes ya just gotta widen the search patterns.... :)

Serena said...

It's a thought, Don, but I don't know anybody cross-country. At least I know the territory here, and it's a known quantity.:)

Crimson flames pass through my years...yep, shore do!

Then again, /t. might be onto something...

If I had a rocket launcher,
I'd miss and hit Uranus..
I'd miss and hit Uranus..
all over this cosmos...

it'd blow up Skank Girl
and her crotch crik-ets
and that'd cause
joy to all the brothers and the sisters
all over this land...

*ducking boos and throwd Puff paraphenalia*

A better week to you, Serena!

Serena said...

LOL, Skunk. Dear SkankGirl, there's a rocket launcher aimed at Uranus... Nah, she'd never get it. I'd be better off huffing and ... puffing.:)
