Note From the Deep Freeze

Much of the country is suffering the effects of an Arctic blast. Chances are, that includes you. It certainly does me. And how! It's colder here than it's been in years, and I am not pleased. Tonight, we're looking at 14 degrees; tomorrow night, 6. I admit I've gotten spoiled by our mild Virginia winters in recent years. Maybe all of us who are suffering the ill effects of bona fide Winter can fool ourselves into thinking it's warmer by thinking about sun and sand and beach music. Just because we're bundled up in long johns, parkas, and boots and waddling around like Abominable Snowmen doesn't mean we can't think about Summer -- and perhaps generate a little heat in the process.

So much for that kooky "global warning" theory. Either that, or Virginia is being punished for not abstaining and living up to its name.

I grew up in Pennsylvania back when the lake effect snow generally came down as far as Pittsburgh, and schools didn't close until the snow was deep enough to stop the plows...which was not often. My blood has been thinned out by living too long in places like Louisiana and Virginia. My bus knew to stop for me this morning because the driver could hear my teeth chattering and knees knocking over the roar of the engine.

What a funny video to watch right before I leave for four days of skiing... But I do hear it will be sunny...

You might be right about the punishment thing, Pugsley. Virginia IS for lovers, you know. No abstinence in sight anywhere.:)

Shoot, Bilbo, I've lived in VA all my life and MY blood has thinned out, too.:)

Happy skiing, VE. Hope you get plenty of sunshine.:)

Sounds to me like the perfect place to be, Galen.:)

1. Human-caused global warming was, is, and perpetually remains, a scam. Cyclical global warming, caused by geologic and solar activity, does exist, and is on a decline the past 10 years.

2. Not that I'm bragging h'yar, but...we'll be in the 50s and 60s into early next week...with ski resorts reveling in snow measured in feet just an hour to the west. Colorado's a funny place ;)

That's astonishing, Skunk. I'd have thought Colorado was even colder than Virginia. So I guess you won't be skiing next week, huh?:)

I don't hate you, Kan, but I'm damn jealous. 72. {{sigh}}
