But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.
(Neil Young, "Harvest Moon")
I seem to be having one little difficulty after another, and for lack of any other suspects, I'm blaming it on the full moon rising; i.e., the Harvest Moon. Yeah. I came in from work last Thursday afternoon and found my cell phone charger chewed into four pieces. Apparently, the dog got bored and angry at being left home alone and decided to get back at me. That's the first time she's ever done that, but I do know there's a first time for everything. Saturday, I went to the U.S. Cellular store closest to home to buy a replacement. Ha! You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you? They didn't have a single one in stock. Yesterday, I paid a visit to the next closest store and -- no dice. They didn't have one, either. Shinin' me on. The clerk did call around and find a store that had one, but it's not close enough that I felt like running right out there. I guess I'll go when I go. I do have a car charger and, luckily, the charger off my old phone fits my new one. I really loved the one that came with the phone, though.
After waiting in line at the bank, wasting time on the useless trip to the phone store, and running a few other errands (and encountering more than the usual number of morons), I came home to find a big-ass City truck blocking my driveway. They were working on a huge tree that they should have worked on years ago. I drove around the block and found a place to park down the street. I motioned one of the workmen over and asked him how long they were going to be because they were blocking my driveway. He apologized, but they didn't bother to move for another hour. I didn't even bother pointing out to him that they had the entire curb right in front of the tree they were working on in which to park their rig -- or that I could think of an alternate use for the wood chipper they were using. City employees apparently aren't known for their common sense. Shine on.
By that time, I was worn out, and had been up late the night before, and needed a nap big-time. And wouldn't you know it, I could not fall asleep. Too many stray brain waves trying to escape my head. Grrrr. I was up late last night, too, and now I'm really dragging. Shine on me.
On the plus side, I ordered some really good-smelling perfume (passion flower, black currant, and a few other choice ingredients) I recently discovered and it came yesterday. I smell pretty good today. Try to mess with that, Full Moon. I double-dog dare 'ya.

Is this rare white koala not the cutest thing?! His name is Mick, and he was found alone and so sick he'd gone blind. After surgery on his eyes and a lot of TLC, he was nursed back to health and was able to be released back into the wild.
You Are 28% Shy |
You are slightly shy, but overall, your reactions to social situations are normal. You dread difficult social situations, but you still handle them with grace. |

You Are 20% Shy
You aren't shy at all, in fact, you're probably quite outgoing.
You are comfortable in almost any social situation, no matter how difficult.
Hell, I coulda told ya that.
Living in oblivion helps.
Aww! Mick is SO cute!! I want to adopt him.
And why is it the ONE thing you REALLY need in the whole universe seems to be non-existent when you need it? Ugh! I hate that!! Well, at least your old charger fit and this moon craziness should be over soon.

There's a lot to be said for the State of Oblivion, Seeley. LOL.
I'd adopt that little darling, too, Snow. So precious.
I don't know why the universe insists on doing that. Must be one of those warped Laws of Nature or something. I do know that moon craziness will get a little worse before it gets better.:)
"I smell pretty good today. Try to mess with that, Full Moon. I double-dog dare 'ya." she says as she has a truck dumps waste on her while stuck in traffic.
Thank you for the Full Moon Warning. Why does the full moon hate Geminis so?
Shine on me, why doncha!
Why does the full moon hate Geminis so?
It's because we're special, Kan.:) Don't worry, I'm staying out of traffic today.
Jack, put down that shiny axe and we'll talk about it.:-)
Cesar Milan would tell you that you are the pack leader. Your dog is frustrated and needs to walk. Or you really pissed puppy off.
We had a cat that was notoriously mean and bit everyone except me. She got ear mites and it was up to me to medicate her. All through the treatment she tolerated it. About a week or so after she was rubbing on my legs, then gave me a good nip on the heel. She walked away with an aire about her and we were fine again. First and only time she bit me.
Hey I found a way to stay signed into blog!
I'm 12% shy: "You aren't shy at all, in fact, you're probably quite outgoing. You are comfortable in almost any social situation, no matter how difficult. "
I find this quite funny, as I probably used to be 89% shy and still consider myself introverted.
Tell me about the perfume--name? Maker? Do you think it'll work on ALL redheads? I'm wearing Victoria's Secret "Pure Seduction," which makes me smell like either a teenager or possibly the sexiest fruit salad EVER. Normally I wear something called "Elysium," which I also think is funny--I want to smell like the river of forgetfulness?
Pissed Puppy's just going to have to deal with it, Roxan. Mama has to go out and work to buy the Kibbles & Bits. Sounds like that cat of yours decided to give you a little object lesson. LOL. And people say animals can't reason or formulate thoughts.:) What's your newfound Blogger secret? I'm still having to sign in more frequently than I'd like.
I think I'm probably more shy than my score, too, Greeny. And I know for sure I'm much more an introvert than an extrovert.
The perfume is "Flair" by Revlon. I only bought a small bottle because sometimes I get excited about something and then find I can't stand it. So far, so good on this fragrance. I think it should work very well on ALL redheads. Probably blondes and brunettes, too. I like the idea of sexy fruit salad. LOL. I may have to try your "Pure Seduction." I wear mainly Opium and Je Reviens; always looking for something new.
I quit using IE and now that I'm using Firefox, all I have to do is click the sign in. It also signs in automatically if I make a comment on a post. The remember me button actually works!
I've been trying to tell folks the advantages to FF. It rocks. One trouble you can have with perfume is the effect it has on bees. ♪Shine on harvest moon, up in the sky♪
I am finding it a pretty nice browser, Charles. A lot more options than IE.
One of my issues with IE is that the cache never seems to get cleaned like it should. My cache cleaner on IE quit working-period.
It seems kind of ridiculous to me that Blogger can't coexist with all the most frequently used browsers. Since it can't, I should go on and download FF. I've only been meaning to do it for about the past year.:)
You're right, Charles -- bees love perfume. *Shine on, shine on harvest moon, up in the sky...*
I guess the moon got your doggie this time...
SJ,
You are supposed to have already done it like you told me you did months ago. Shame on you slacker =P
I like it simply for the spellcheck feature it has. I just wish I could switch my work PC to Firefox.
See, you had all this negativity and then followed it up with Mick and turned it right around. I can't blame anything on the full moon because it's my own damn fault for getting stung in the butt for hanging it out the window in the first place.
"Shine On." Have you been secretly listening to James Blunt? :-D
I think so, Mona. Perhaps I'll start calling her Moon Doggie now.:)
Confession of a slacker, Kan: I meant to do it; just never got around to it.:)
VE, do you mean that if I kept my butt inside the window, none of this stuff would be happening? I'm going to try that!:-)
I do listen to James Blunt from time to time, Trée. I like him.:)
You'll love "Shine On" on his new album, "All the Lost Souls."
Thanks for the heads up, Trée. I didn't know he had a new one out. Yay!

An entire concert for your viewing and listening pleasure. It doesn't get much better than this. :-)
Blunt in Concert
Thank you! Both links were great.
Awww...a cuddly koala! What a wonderful icon of our Aussie bush!
I love that song, "Harvest Moon". When I bought the cassette...(yep...cassette not CD as CDs weren't around then) I played and played that cassette. It's a beauty.
He makes an adorable icon, Lee.:)
I have HM on CD (and it's probably also in my box of cassettes), but I'm so positively ancient that I still have it on vinyl as well. LOL.
That koala is very cute.
I'm going to add you to my blog.
wow that moon really is messin with you.
I'm with snowelf, I could adopt him.:)
tc
Thank you, Lamby. I'm going to add you, too. I thought I already had, but I've been remiss. I know, that little koala is impossibly cute.:)
It sure has been messing with me, TC. I'm just going to lay low 'til it's over and see what happens. I think we'd all like to adopt little Mick.:)
Sometimes when the moon be shining at it's brightest, ya gets it where the sun don't...
STOMP>
LOL, Scary. Ain't that the truth.:-)
Hmmm, you too? I don't usually prescribe to the "full moon affect," but I'm being persuaded to reconsider. I've had a spate of bad things happening to me lately;
not the least of which was having the finger nail on my right index finger torn off! (I'm right-handed too!) I'm a bad enough typist as it ....
Oh, geez, Mike! How'd you get your nail torn off? That sounds mondo painful! I'd definitely blame it on the moon. If you can make it through tomorrow night, the worst of it will be over.:)
You and your moon-moods, Serena! It's positively Lycanthropian.
We always have all kinds of issues at the full moon. I can't sleep. My little one has nightmares. The kids are fussy and so is the husband. Blah blah blah.
But I still love the full moon.
If you ask me, your dog has used up her "Peak Lifetime Minutes", and should also be excluded from your "Friends and Family Network".
Why don't you go to bed earlier?
That ain't rocket science!
Jeez, whatever could you possibly be doing thats more important than getting your proper amount of rest?
Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh!!!!!!!
xxxxxxx
I know, Camille. Arr-roooooooo!:-)
I like it, too, December, regardless of the weird junk it causes.:)
The biggest problem I'm having with the dog right now, Puggy, is texting.:-)
I flunked rocket science, G. And you know what they say about a woman's work never being done. Okay, so I'm not up late working, but I have stuff to do. Huh!
xoxo
