Life's A Beach

Because I've spent so much time on Ocracoke Island, I was tickled to see Ocracoke in the #1 spot on the list of Best U.S. Beaches. It's a well deserved honor! There's a lot of development on North Carolina's Outer Banks, but Ocracoke Island remains pristine, wild, and unspoiled, accessible only by ferry.

AMERICA'S BEST BEACHES 2007

1. Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach, Outer Banks, North Carolina - National Winner
2. Caladesi Island State Park, Dunedin/Clearwater, Florida
3. Coopers Beach, Southampton, New York
4. Hanalei Bay, Kauai, Hawaii
5. Coast Guard Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts
6. Hamoa Beach, Maui, Hawaii
7. Main Beach, East Hampton, New York
8. Coronado Beach, San Diego, California
9. Lighthouse Point Park, Daytona Beach, Florida
10. Siesta Beach, Sarasota, Florida

Photos of all 10 beaches can be found HERE

These are some of my own favorite snapshots of the Outer Banks and Ocracoke. I apologize for the oddly placed captions. Stupid #%&^* Blogger.

It'd be unfortunate if it said you are PC. We'd have no fun.

I'm also a PC.

I like the wild ponies and the lighthouse.

Ok, I know I'm a Mac. But not because any of this is true: "You are creative, stylish, and super trendy. You demand the best - even if it costs an arm and a leg."

Super-trendy? Me? Wha?

Seems I'm a Mac. Now I know the source of my frustration, all my computers are PCs. :-D

Beautiful picture, by the way. :-)

The jury's out on Ocracoke Island. I mean, sure, I did find Blackbeard's Treasure. But it was overcast the whole time.

Charles, if I ever turn PC, I hope somebody wil clobber me with a Mac.:)

Thanks, Roxan. Those ponies are beautiful.

It doesn't matter, Greeny. You're learning to ACCESSORIZE.:-)

Whichever one you mean, thank you, Trée. If I thought Macs would alleviate frustration, I'd try one but ... I don't think so.:-)

I don't know, Pug -- I think overcast on an island is kind of fun. Makes it easier to hunt Blackbeard's stash without getting sunburned, you know.:)

If a Mac will alleviate symptoms, how big a glass of water do you have to drink to wash it down?

Charles said...

If you do get it down, how many tubes of Preparation-H will you need after?

The pictures are super. I'm a wireless mouse and my batteries have ran dry.

Serena said...

I don't know, Charles, but probably at least a gallon jug -- and more tubes than I can afford.:-)

Steve! You took your hat off! Wireless mouse, huh? LOL.

I love these pictures. I was just in Dunedin Fla when I visited my mom but I didn't see this beach.

I don't understand what's up with new blogger. You used to be able to load your pictures in compose, type your text and when you previewed it, it looked just like you composed it but NOW!!! when you preview the text is all over the place. Go into html edit and it's a nightmare with span's and div's.
blah blah blah.
It drives me nuts and takes me twice as long to create a post.

You are a PC.:)

Isn't it a huge pain, TC? I don't know why text won't stay where you try to place it. It's very annoying. Next time I do pictures, I'll just do a boring "left align" straight down the page. At least you can stick a caption above the proper photo that way.

I haven't been to FL in years, but Dunedin does look very nice.

I'm a PC, too. Another couple of Windows changes and I just might join the Mac revolution, though.:-)

Hi, Mona. Thank you!

It sounds like my kind of island, Serena...unspoilt...just the way I love islands to be. The two islands I lived on were unspoiled...and I loved my time on both.

I love unspoiled places, too, Lee. Alas, they become fewer every day.
