There's always lots of things that we can see,
We can be anyone we want to be,
And all those happy people we could meet just . . .
Groovin' . . . on a Sunday afternoon.
("Groovin'," Young Rascals)
It was nice and cool with a hint of rain in the air when I got up this morning, so I had my coffee and read the paper on the little screened porch out back. Sitting there listening to the birds chirping and the squirrels chattering, fanned by a gentle breeze which was actually a tad chilly, was nice. The older I get, the more I realize I don't need constant stimulation and entertainment. It's the simple pleasures that I appreciate and savor. I'm easy that way.
It's Laid-Back Sunday, and Serena Jam continues. Here's a little sample of Southern Culture on the Skids -- a very successful band that I keep up with because the drummer was my teenage neighbor in the 80s.
Today's truly dumb quiz thingy.

Simple pleasures. A woman after my own heart. Give me peace and quiet and a good cup of coffee and high speed internet and I'm about as happy as I can be. I did say about. ;-)
Afternoon S. :-)
And why not? What you prefer is what you prefer. And I'm right there with ya as far as the coffee is concerned. mmm. I don't think I was ever one to need lots of stimulation, even as a kid when my brother would want to go throw the ball, I found that my preference was to stay inside and read.
I'll ask this: Why limit it to Sunday only for Laid-Back? Oh, that's right, that.
Enjoy yourself.
I'm like a little kid, I need incessant entertainment. Jailbait, huh?
I'm going to upset my CALM by yelling at Blogger. Damn thing just ate my whole comment. Now I have to try and remember what I said. Grrrrr.
And a good afternoon to you, Trée. Peace and quiet are highly desirable. Throw in great coffee and a good internet connection and it just doesn't get much better.
I was a pretty self-contained kid, too, Charles, without the need for much extraneous stimulation. Most of the time when somebody came looking for me, they could find me hiding out somewhere with a book.
Laid-Back is pretty much limited to the weekends because weekday mornings, trying to get up on time and ready for work, are just too hectic.
There's a lot to be said for childhood, T.:) LOL at "jailbait." See, I told you the quiz was dumb.
Um, P.S. and excuse me, but none of you have said what your name means.:-)

LOL, Leelee. Apparently, that quiz is quite taken with your looks. I think it's in love with you.:-)
Wow, pineapple doesn't get any fresher than that, and I LOVE pineapple upside down cake. Happy snoozing!
G,....Gumdrop
Man,..Munchkin
A,....Angel Face
N,....Nookie
Serena..? Do I remind you of Nookie?
(Vice versa, Maybe)
....sorry, couldn't help myself, it must have been the Munchkin in me!
xoxox...G-Man Hahahaha
LOL, G. Bad munchkin. I could never tell what reminds me of what. A girl has to have her secrets. I could probably be plied with gumdrops, though.:-)
Really..?
Goody Goody......
Just so you know, I don't like the green ones and I'm not crazy about the purple ones.:-)
Jailbait? Uh .. maybe us guys should be a little less forward...?
It's okay, Mike. That only applies in the next galaxy over. In this one, it'll be another 200 years before I'm jailbait again.:-)
The name "Charles" is of Anglo-Saxon origin, its meaning would be man or manly. Not taking some randomized "test", here's how I'd break it down:
C is for Cheezy, as is my humor.
H is for Humorous, which I'd like to be.
A is for Ass, which is what I'm sometimes called.
R is for Real, which I always try to be.
L is for Lazy, which I sometimes am.
E is for Excessive, as in my indulgences.
S is for Sweet, which I can be, but not to everyone.
ya know Serena..I think that quiz IS in love with me..~blush~
Cool breakdown, Charles, except that you're way too hard on yourself on a few points.:)
I think it is, too, Leelee. But hey, don't fight it. Any time somebody -- or okay, someTHING -- is in love with you, roll with it.:-)
Sometimes you just have to take what I say with a grain of salt, I don't know half of what I'm talking about when the subject is me. :)
I SO FREAKIN' LOVE SOUTHERN CULTURE! Right now on my iPOd - Plastic Seat Sweat. Shotgun, House of Bamboo, Deja Varoom. I had no idea you like them. My friends and I got totally hooked on these guys.
"You cannot buy true love. You can't shoot its ass."
I've been a fan since they first started up, CD. When the drummer (hi, David!) was my neighbor, he practiced so much that you just knew he was going to make it some day. And he did. And the band is cool as all get-out.
*You cannot buy true love but you can shoot its ass as necessary.
SCotS gives a great live show. I've only seen them a couple times, but they were a lot of fun.
I think that's what makes them so good, LBB. They're all about putting on a fun show.
Anytime Me can stop the world for a moment and listen to the wind rustling through the trees while enjoying a cup of coffee or a cold brew and a relaxing smoke be an alright time for me.
stomp.
Amen, Scary.:)
I love laying back with peace and quiet, throw in a nice breeze and some coffee and I'm good to go.
