"Blood-curdling..." -- Part 25

After what seemed an interminable time, through many strange smells permeating the room, through a long litany of unknowable words and incantations by Devorah, Haggis was finally given permission to open her eyes and stand.

"Well?" demanded Haggis of her benefactress. "Am I human again?"

"Passable," Devorah conceded. "You will never be fully human, old girl, but I daresay you'll do."

"Well, what do I look like?" Haggis asked impatiently.

"See for yourself," said Devorah. "There is a looking glass yonder, on the dark side of the stairs."

Ahhhhhh, but you must trust that Devorah knows what she's doing, for there is such a thing as ... karma.:)

I think she just wants some free eggs.

I don't know; she's probably not that hard up. She probably has chickens running around the fortress grounds. And if not, she's a ... sorceress. She could conjure up some eggs. Hmmmm. Could be that Devorah's looking into the future a little bit, seeing the bigger picture. :)
