"Blood-curdling..." -- The Conclusion

"What is it?" Haggis asked the nearest bystander. She was not frightened at all but her curiosity was piqued.

"It is truth, mum!" the man answered.

"What?!" Haggis demanded.

"Truth!" the man repeated. "If your heart is not pure, you had best run."

"Balderdash!" Haggis exclaimed, standing her ground, continuing to gaze defiantly upon the burning orb rushing at breakneck speed from the heavens.

"You'd best make your amends and expiate your sins now, woman. Truth is coming fast!"

"Truth," she spat contemptuously. "What simpletons these humans be. Whoever heard of such..."

At that moment, Haggis was hit in the head with the flaming sphere of truth and was vaporized where she stood.

Her last thought might have been, but probably was not, that the truth will always out and, when it hits, it hits hard.
