No Matter How You Say It...

Santa's probably loading his sleigh as we speak, preparing to spread joy and good cheer -- and presents! -- throughout the world tonight. Whatever holiday you celebrate, wherever in the world you happen to be -- or whatever planet you're on, or think you're on -- I wish you the best of the season.

Soon, it will be time to once again pay lip service to ... New Year's Resolutions. I never keep them, so it's an exercise in futility for me to make them. So I don't. Save one, which I do intend to work on in 2011. Again. Its name is "Patience." Mine has been tried again and again and found lacking. I used to have nearly infinite patience. I'd like to get it to level off somewhere in the middle again. Life flows so much better when you're not in a huge hurry and you can apply patience to those situations which are going to happen with or without you. Sometimes, it's pointless to argue with life. It's going to do what it's going to do, and there's little you can do about it. Some things drive me just freakin' crazy. And realizing there's nothing I can do about some things just makes me crazier. On some level, however, I do realize that if you can approach "things" with a modicum of patience, you're starting out ahead of the game. Whatever one is lacking patience in is either going to happen, or it won't. The patience factor gives you an edge, I think. If nothing else, it keeps your blood pressure down. Or at least, it can't hurt.

There is this from the Tao Te Ching regarding patience (or the lack thereof): "Do you have the patience to do nothing?"

If you "get" that and can work with it, you can do anything.

I require a lot of patience. So now you have a more specific goal to shoot at, er, for.

Merry Christmas, SJ! I was told never to pray for patience because God would give you trials to create said patience. LOL! My resolution is to lose the same 20 lbs that I've gained and lost about 20 times over.

Blessings!!

There are times when I have more patience than at certain other times, Puggy. Maybe I should send you a list of what I consider shootable offenses. Merry Christmas! I hope Santa brings you lots of treats.;)

I guess God's logic makes sense to me, Marion, in a roundabout kind of way. LOL. As long as you don't resolve to lose those lbs, you'll probably do it. Have a wonderful Christmas, hon!:)

I happen to know that YOU can do anything that you put your mind to it.
You were meant to be patient and serene...
I'm sure that the folks around you would appreciate it as well..hehehehe
Maybe some patient inducing presents will help you on your quest for relaxation!!
Merry Christmas Red...
May 2011 be filled with Happiness.

Oh, I know you know, G. Patience and serenity are sometimes hard to come by, though. You know? Opening presents can certainly be relaxing. Good idea!;) Merry Christmas, G.xoxx

Fuck patience. It's highly overrated. We spent our whole lives being sweet, good little girls. Now we're mature women who have learned a thing or two, and we've earned the right to express an opinion on them! Like people who can't drive, and the way Wal-Mart never opens enough check-out lines, and how some ignorant assholes insist on voting Republican because Caribou Barbie ("I can see Russia from my porch") is "hot." You don't hear Bill Gates and Steve Jobs pledging to cultivate more patience. I say speak up! Try to make a difference! Now I have to go make the bed (slinks off...)

Well, hell, Lesia, maybe I AM finally cultivating a little patience -- because I did not make my bed today. I just figured, "Screw it, who cares?" Merry Christmas, honey!:)

Since I always reckoned that a hospital had more patience than me, it'd be an exercise in fertility. 'Cept now I'm sounding like my pet rock, Seymour (who seems of late to taking pages from Norm Crosby).

Merry Christmas!

Serena said...

I think Seymour's been slipping you Cliff notes on fertility rites, Skunk. Be patient, but make him stop. Merry Christmas!:)
