Maintaining

Yesterday was my first day "home alone" after my sister spent the weekend with me and went home Sunday. I did fine, was able to do whatever I needed to, and wasn't in a great deal of pain. It was the first day I was able to use my left arm without wrapping it in an Ace bandage, too, so that was good. My neighbors have been very kind about walking my dog for me and I'm going to do something nice for them the very first chance I get. I have someone coming Wednesday and staying for about a week who'll also be a tremendous help to me, physically and emotionally. I'll be going to the doctor Thursday to get my sutures removed and I imagine he'll let me know then what I can and can't do and how long I'll have to be off work.

In all honesty, I'm not sure that I -- assuming I, in fact, still have that job to return to -- want to remain in that job. If it's still there, I may go back and then continue job searching. I just don't know if I want to work in a place where neither of the two people in the office at the time of my accident offered to call an ambulance for me or even helped me up off the floor. Admittedly, they both said they didn't realize how bad it was. Frankly, neither did I. Still, when an employee has had an accident and says she can't walk, it seems to me that the decent thing to do is offer assistance.

I guess the only thing to do at this point is wait and see how things play out. For example, I expect to hear something today from somebody about Workers Comp. If I don't, I don't think it's too soon to start looking for a Workers Comp attorney. And I do know some.

You guys have a Terrific Tuesday!

WHAT RUDE, INSENSITIVE JERKS! Do they not even know the most primitive first aid, nay manners?

(And I had a broken hip for 24 hours before the surgeon discovered it in a routine x-ray, but I was already laid up in a hospital!)

Whatever you do, don't rush or hurry to get back to work. You've paid into workman's comp all of your working life and now you need it...so take as long as it takes for you to get back to 100%, girlie. I mean that. And hire that WC attorney pronto. The day of your accident, they should have had a WC rep taking a report on the accident and getting you fixed up to not miss a single paycheck.

Feel better very soon, but not too soon! Love & Blessings!! xoxo

Holy mother of cheese, Serena...

I think my jaw dropped at least three or four times catching up with your blog. Skank girl and now this...egads! I wish I was closer--I would most certainly walk your doggie and bring you take out and chocolate. Wishing you safe healing and a swift recovery.

I know, Marion, I just don't know what in the hell they were thinking. Don't worry, I'm not going to rush back to work. The adjuster for the WC carrier called me today, took my statement, and said he'd let me know no later than Thurs. whether my claim is accepted or rejected. If for some obscure reason they reject it, I'll call my boss and inquire whether they plan to submit a claim to their liability insurance instead. If they say no, and it looks like I'm going to get stuck with a huge hospital bill, I'm not going back there. Instead, I'll hire a lawyer. I'll keep you posted on what's going on.:)

Aw, thank you so much, Snow. I have no doubt you'd help out -- and do a fine job of it -- because that's the kind of sweet person you are.:)

Thank you so much, Mona. I'm recovering well and, all in all, feeling pretty good. One thing I'm going to catch up on during my "down" time is visiting all my Blogger buddies that I've been neglecting.:)

What an ordeal.

Just catching up. Been away myself. I had to reel back until I found what had happened to you.

Continue to mend.
