Fun With Twisted Linguistics

I was shocked and awed when the maintenance guy showed up yesterday with my new furnace/AC unit. I didn't expect it to arrive in town before Thursday or Friday. Of course, it's sitting on a dolly in my living room, which is a lovely addition to my decor. But the good news is, they're going to start installing it today and my AC should be back up and running tomorrow. Not that I've been all that uncomfortable. It only got to about 83 yesterday, not 90, and with a couple of fans going, my apartment felt quite pleasant.

On the job search front, it looks like the job market is picking up a little. There have actually been a few ads in the paper that I've replied to. That's such a change from just a couple of months ago, when there was nothing -- because God knows I'm not qualified for truck driving or doctoring or the National Guard. I've even had a nibble or two, but have shied away from them because I don't want to make another mistake. It has to be right, damn it, or I ain't doing it.

My baby birds are getting ready to fly the coop, I think. Mom and Pop Purple Finch have been trying to coax them into flight for two days now. Yesterday, I saw the parents chirping at them, clearly urging them to give flying a try. Two of the babies hopped out of the nest and up onto the edge of the hanging basket. They're pretty good size now, but still have fuzzy down on their heads. So cute! They sat there on the edge, flapping their little wings furiously and chirping up a storm at their mom and dad but, in the end, they got scared and hopped back into the nest. Maybe today...

Anybody feel like defining Words Gone Wild today? I have some for you.

OMG, I can't believe you've had to go without AC! You poor baby!! The heat index here is to be around 105 next week. OY! I'm back online, thank God. I was getting DT's! Blessings! xoxo

It was a little rough today, Marion, with the temp reaching 88, but I haven't been all that miserable. Hell, I grew up without AC. They'll finish the installation tomorrow, thank goodness. SO glad you're back online! Internet DTs are hell!!:-)
