The Horror of (Stupid) Electronics

I hate digital clocks! I don't do well with the mechanics of things to begin with, and when they're electronic things, I've been known to throw them out the window when they refuse to bend to my will. When my alarm went off yesterday morning, I was sleeping on my right side and reached under the pillow next to me to look at the time on my cell phone. It was 4:00 A.M.! So, I rolled over and looked at the clock, and it said 6:00 A.M. That could have led to some major confusion if I hadn't known, even as half asleep as I was, that it was the time on the phone I could trust. I must have set something on top of the clock the night before, which made its little buttons do weird things and set the time two hours forward and the alarm two hours backwards. I knew last evening that I was going to have to reset it, which I dreaded. I got out the instruction manual -- and how insane does that sound, needing a manual to set a clock?! -- and finally, after about ten minutes and a lot of cussing, I got the damn thing reset. This clock is supposed to be able to reset itself in the event of a power outage or switching back and forth between SDT and DST. Apparently, it's stupid as hell.

I'm not saying the music video will calm us all down, but it couldn't hurt. Have a great Tuesday.

I have a Jurassic-Era digital clock radio, and until it meets an untimely end (see what I just did there?), it will serve. When I have to buy something that requires a manual to operate it, I will resort to an hourglass ;)

I hear you on the digital clocks, girlie! I broke down a few years ago and bought a Sony Dream Machine clock/radio/DVD player. It took me a week to learn how to use all the buttons, but I love it because I can wake up to soft music and not a rude buzzer. It has an awesome BIG snooze button which you can set to 10, 15 or 20 minutes. That's cool. AND, it has battery backup, so when the electricity blinks, I don't have to reset the 10 radio station buttons. Sheesh, I should do a commercial for them. LOL! Have a good day. Blessings!

I had a wind-up clock, Skunk, which I relied on as a backup, but it died on me last week and got ... tossed. Trust me, I am hell on all things mechanical.:-)

LOL, Marion. That's what THIS thing is -- Sony Dream Machine. It's worked just fine up until now. I noticed this morning that the time has somehow gotten itself about half an hour ahead again. I do NOT know what's up with that.:)

Lets see...

Woke up 'late' at 6:00 AM ?

Be at work at 9:00 AM...?

You live maybe 10 minutes from work?

THREE HOURS TO PREPARE?

Blogging at work?

I'm the type who doesn't use (need) an alarm clock to wake up. Not matter what time I go to bed, I get up at 3:00 AM. It took a while to train myself to do that, but now it's like....um...clockwork LOL

Even on days when I don't have to get up, I still wake up at 3:00 AM, but trust me it's very easy to et back to sleep on those days HA

Well, see, Galen, when the alarm was supposed to go off at "6:00," it was actually only 4:00 while the time displayed as 7:00. See the reason for my confustication? But yes, I do need PLENTY of time in the morning. I need lots of coffee, some computer time, and time to read the paper before I have to get ready for the nuthouse.:)

I actually wake up early most days, too, Reallive, but I don't trust myself to do it when I HAVE to; hence the reliance on an alarm clock. Believe me, it doesn't take me long to get back to sleep, either, when I don't have to get up.:)

Oh, I am sharp, Galen. Rapier sharp. Just ask anybody who's crossed me to show you their battle scars.:-)
