Sawdust Blues

Not really. Sawdust, I mean. At least, I don't think there will be any. I'm pretty sure I'm about to be in for a big mess of some kind, though. We're having some windows replaced -- sixteen of them, to be exact. Work will start next week or the week after. I'm not looking forward to the disruption of a bunch of men trekking in and out, banging and clanging, leaving Lord knows what kind of mess. It'll be great when it's all over, though. I won't know what to do with myself when I no longer have to wrestle these ancient monsters to get them open. I just wish there was some way to replace them with shorter windows; I'm still going to have to get a ladder to take down curtains. Oh, well. You can't have it all.

I got my partial off, albeit I'm not optimistic about its prospects. No blues, though; it's just an itsy-bitsy publisher. A rejection notice isn't going to break me up. I vetted a synopsis and query letter for an already nicely published friend today as well. His chances are a hell of a lot better than mine, and I predict he'll land a top echelon publisher for his latest work.

As you probably know by now, there was another school shooting today -- the third in less than a week. This is absolutely insane, completely beyond comprehension. What kind of twisted mind even conceives of such heinous, barbaric things? Why in the hell would some apparently psychotic milkman target little Amish girls? Three little girls are dead, several others injured. Friends with school-age children are expressing qualms about sending their kids out to school, and I don't blame them. Life is inherently dangerous, but this is beyond the pale. This is intolerable.

I think I'm going to go do some editing on my manuscript. There, at least, it's only fiction and there's some rhyme and reason to the violence.

You will be accepted unless you sent it to the world's dumbest publisher.

I missed the Amish shooting and good thing for me. I have a rather warped sense of humor and the jokes are rushing to my mind and it is a sad story that should not be made light.

RW, that's wonderful! Hey, I'm not laughing -- I've carried manuscripts around with me. Are you going to share some snippets of the new work on your blog? You know I'm dying to see it.

Kan, we shall see -- especially since I seem to have a history of getting mixed up with dumb and/or warped publishers.

No, there's no way to make light of the shootings, even among those of us with twisted senses of humor. It's just pure, horrible tragedy.

1. Good luck with the contractors.......I know first hand what a pain it can be to have strangers mucking around my house, doing work and tracking in mud. (literally) Just remember how much nicer it will be once the windows are in...

2. I don't hink you will get one, but a 'rejection' is just one step closer to a acceptance of your material....You're good Serena....we see it, have faith...

3. Like I posted on one of my other blogs, I think the guy was possesed by pure evil...There is no sociological reasoning for what this guy did....It's so evil, it's hard to wrap my mind around the actual reality of the situation.....It seems unreal

1. I know, Rex. It'll be a pain but worth the end result -- much like childbirth.

2. Oh, aren't you precious! Thank you. I have a little bit of faith left, so we shall see.

3. Yes, that's it -- pure evil. It's so insane, so diabolical, so completely unexpected that it does seem unreal. Did you write about it over at the PWZ?

Warning

PWZ is a hardcore political site. It is a good place if you want a heated debate or have a vested interest in a side. I would say it is the internet's "Take No Prisoners" site. I would give them a 8 for content, but they need more variety so you might be exactly what they need. Check them out for sure, but know what you are getting into. Rex will protect you =P

I gave up heated debate and arguing. So far, the treatment's working. LOL. If you guys have my back, though, who knows -- maybe I'll jump into some discussion that really raises my hackles.

Whoa, whoa, whoa....Hey Kanrei..time out old friend, I am sure Serena can more then take care of herself......And we are desperate for liberal voices, but don't be bagging on us.....

Sure we are a 'hardcore' political site, that is why I have the Pub....Because I am not about politics 'only'.....

In fact, I would say that is the smallest point of intrest for me these days......Anons get a ration there, but only because they deserve it......

I am not sure why you would take shots.......

We have kept politics out of the Home for Lemming, Can't we can keep it off of our 'personal politics' here and the Pub.....?

Please

And Remember, I was the one that voted for Gore.......

ok, no more politics from me at Serenas house....

No problem -- politics are fun sometimes. It's only a sideline around here -- unless and until I get going on the Mark Foley Folly -- so it's not likely to get heated. A little debate keeps you on your toes.

Rex, I took no shots. Quite the opposite.

Yea, we are getting a little stale with the Foley mess...( a republican Kan:) )..Not much to talk about these days...and when you have basically two people running a blogs, both of whom have very very different ideas of what a blog should be, you get stuck in the middle.......

I like sports, art, women, weird stories.....others want politics all the time.......That is why I made my own blog, you can swear on it, there may be nudity, but it will always be different and fun.....

Everyone at the PWZ is very nice, except the original version of 'Rex Zeitgeist' that guy can be a real SOB when irked, ahahahahaha......

Kan, if you want to see some real hit job take no prisoner blogs....I have a whole list of them....

I went to one last night', 'Thank You Keith Olbermann.blogsite'....I was 'recruiting'....I think I made some new feinds.......ehehehehe

I wrote a paper on Good and Evil as a real entity or force shortly after the Columbine massacre....I had a shouting match with a fellow student that almost got out of hand, in of all places, a 'family violence' class at UW (undergrad psych work)....He said 'evil' was simply a matter of sociological forces, which I totally disagree with....

I gave my old computer to my brother in law (I know, bad move) but I am going to dig it out and post it, or at least some of it....Its very long......It dealt with Harris and Klebolds facsination with evil and the way, I beleive, it over took them......

Despite what the sociologists say, I believe there is real, palpable evil. It has nothing to do with resenting one's potty training or anger management issues. It's something separate and apart. I hope you find your Columbine piece; I'd like to see it. You know what scares me most about these school shootings? Somewhere, somebody is plotting away and won't be happy 'til they outdo Harris and Klebold's body count. There seems to be this compulsion these days to outdo the last guy, to break records. It's frightening as hell and it is, yes, evil.

I think I went dyslexic on Kanries post....Sorry Kan...
