Miscellany

The huzzz-bun hacked and snorted all weekend. It seems he picked himself up a whopper of a cold. Now he’s given me the gift of germs, turned me into a simmering (when I'd rather be simpering) hotbed of sniffles and sneezes. Wasn’t that just too kind of him? Yeth -- I hab a code. Last night, I was sweaty hot one minute, shivering with chills the next, and sneezing ceaselessly. Today the coughing and throat tickle is setting in, and my head has that “puffy” feeling. I know the signs. I figure I’ll be good and sick in another day or two – just when the window guys show up and go to work. Won’t that be fun?

I left for work this morning and had gone about a block when I suddenly said to myself, “Whoa! This doesn’t look right.” I touched my face, and realized I didn’t have my driving glasses on. I can see up close just fine, but not far away. I had to turn around and go back home for my glasses. Duh.

If you have mental problems, limited funds, and crappy legal representation, I’d stay out of small Oklahoma towns with crooked cops and unethical prosecutors. I read about half of John Grisham’s new book, “The Innocent Man,” last night. This one isn't fiction. It’s the unbelievably horrible story of an Oklahoma man with mental problems, no money, and a terrible lawyer who was convicted of a rape-murder he didn’t commit and spent eleven years in prison. It’s a terrific story, and a must-read for anyone interested in the American justice system (or lack thereof). It's counterintuitive to the common misconception that in America justice will prevail and no innocent person will go to jail. Riiiiight; tell it to this and another couple of innocent guys from the same town who missed execution by about a hair's breadth.

For Sale Cheap: One Pissed Off Dog
Apparently, the dog has it in for me again. I came in from work and she'd shredded the newspaper all over the den. That was fun, picking up confetti and wads of chewed paper still dripping with dog drool. I don't know what her problem is this time. Mad because I went off to work and didn't take her, perhaps? It's been so long since she's done this that I can't remember what the Riddle of the Ripped Up Paper means.

I thank you and my big stuffy head thanks you. The medicinals don't really do that much, but I'm taking them; it's something to do.

I will trade you my cat for your dog. I woke up today to little tiny pieces of bread all over my house. The little bastard was sitting in another room with the remains of the bag and a few slices still intact with what I swear was a huge grin on his face.

Everyone in Miami is sick right now as well. I am just sick of everything, but that is a form of sickness I suppose. Been in a bad mood again today, but that is due to a meeting with employees. If you ever want to feel better about yourself just pile all your co-workers into a single room and enjoy the void. I felt like Einstein when it was over.
I hope to have something for your words in a few, but my mind is fried right now.

ahahahahaha...Suspecious....classic, I am going to start using that one.....

Sorry about your cold, it sucks to get sick especially when the weather changes to cold from warm....

I used to never get sick, but since I moved into my stinky condo I have been sick for months.....First it was flu that turned into pnuemonia, then I got a stomach blockage (that wasn't fun).....I have decieded that being well is better then being sick.....

Hot soup and warm blankets.....and call the Dog Whisperer....

Kan, I think the bread trumps the paper. Therefore, the round goes to the cat. Of COURSE, he was grinning.:)

I'm sick of everything, too, but at least I don't have cranky employees to deal with.

Since we're all sick and we're all tired, I think we should all pool our quarters and book a cruise to ... Romania. LOL.

But Rex, what does suspecious MEAN? Can we use it in sentences?

Hot soup and warm blankets sounds heavenly. I won't be needing the Dog Whisperer guy, though. I'm trading the dog to Kan for a cat.

Hey, you don't think it's something in the condo making you sick, do you? It might be a good idea to have it checked for hidden mold and such.

Thanks for stopping by, Calli. You're right, the Grisham book is an eye opener. I've been a paralegal for a lot of years and I've seen some pretty bad injustice, but nothing on that scale. I took a quick look at the SI site -- great stuff. I'll definitely be back to read it in depth.

suspecious....questionably obtuse

Yea, this condo is a big part of the problem, but I can't move every month...I got stuck here at the last minute and now it looks like the end of next month is the soonest I can get help moving..It sucks...

Everybody give Rex a hand. That definition rocks.

Yikes, that does suck that your place is making you sick and you can't get out. If you can get out of there at the end of next month, I guess all you can do is stick it out 'til then.

What are you doing going to work if you're not well?! It is your duty to stay at home and sleep and watch rubbish television and read good books. And keep warm and drink lots. Oh and cuddle Shredder.

Hope you're feeling better today. x

Colds are miserable, this is true, but I usually keep on trudging along as long as it's not flu. I haven't been up long, but I can tell the nose is going to have center stage today. LOL. But not to worry, all I have to do is get through five hours today and then my work week is over.

If you enjoyed reading The Innocent Man, may I suggest reading the companion book to it. Here is something I wrote about it: Who And Where Is Dennis Fritz, You say after reading John Grisham's Wonderful Book "The Innocent man", Grisham's First non-fiction book. The Other Innocent Man hardly mentioned in "The Innocent Man" has his own compelling and fascinating story to tell in "Journey Toward Justice". John Grisham endorsed Dennis Fritz's Book on the Front Cover. Dennis Fritz wrote his Book Published by Seven Locks Press, to bring awareness about False Convictions, and The Death Penalty. "Journey Toward Justice" is a testimony to the Triumph of the Human Spirit and is a Stunning and Shocking Memoir. Dennis Fritz was wrongfully convicted of murder after a swift trail. The only thing that saved him from the Death Penalty was a lone vote from a juror. "The Innocent Man" by John Grisham is all about Ronnie Williamson, Dennis Fritz's was his co-defendant. Ronnie Williamson was sentenced to the Death Penalty. Both were exonerated after spending 12 years in prison. Both Freed by a simple DNA test, The real killer was one of the Prosecution's Key Witness. John Grisham's "The Innocent Man" tells half the story. Dennis Fritz's Story needs to be heard. Read about how he wrote hundreds of letters and appellate briefs in his own defense and immersed himself in an intense study of law. He was a school teacher and a ordinary man from Ada Oklahoma, whose wife was brutally murdered in 1975. On May 8, 1987 while raising his young daughter alone, he was put under arrest and on his way to jail on charges of rape and murder. Since then, it has been a long hard road filled with twist and turns. Dennis Fritz is now on his "Journey Toward Justice". He never blamed the Lord and soley relied on his faith in God to make it through. He waited for God's time and never gave up.
