A Little Light in the Darkness

There's this client we see every few months, usually because he's gotten himself into some new scrape. He was in today, which is what got me to wondering about him -- and about what makes him tick.

This guy practically personifies the word "nihilist." He believes in nothing. He loves nothing and no one -- not even himself, if he is to be believed. He's one who carries the "loner" concept to the extreme. He has no wife, no children, no pet. He has not even a lover, nothing more than a never-ending series of fleeting, shallow -- encounters, for a lack of a better word.

It's hard enough to define the meaning of life. How, then, do you find meaning with nothing to believe in? Surely, a life lived with nothing in it to love, to believe in, to strive for must be awfully cold and empty. With nothing real in it, what is there to live for?

Life is hard enough as it is. I can't imagine trying to get through it without something to hold on to, something real, something that makes it all worthwhile -- something to believe in.

Deputy Roxan busted these annihilated Words Gone Wild today. They are all from, God help us, one post in one singular little pocket of cyberspace.

reltionship - Possibly a real drunken cruise. Otherwise, we just don't know.

synchoroicity - A city where they sing and dance a lot.

perfer - Another name for a happy cat.

conciet - A mini-concierge.

beging - What you've done before you're told to be gone.

acounting - How your ankle feels when a raccoon bites it.

premordial - How the world looked before the primordial soup formed.

corenr - A pathologist who went to a really bad medical school and flunked out before he got a degree.

supper hooker - Oh, how sad that somebody's reduced to hooking for food.

cofirmed - Not just one but two buffed abs.

finaly - A fish you can count on.

promiss - A manuscript the professionals passed on.

Some people just have that attitude. Jerry Garcia once sang:

"Some folks would be happy
just to have one dream come true
but everything you gather
is just more that you can lose"

There comes this belief, self defense if you will, that a person who has nothing cannot have anything taken from them. A person without cares cannot be hurt.

I would think this client had a horrible childhood filled with loss and abuse and this is the end result of it. Believe it or not, they are probably quite happy most days in their world. At the least, they are comfortable.

acounting- how bad Italian stereotypes count. IE: "A now I be a counting. A one, a two, a three"

promiss- AKA "hooker" or professional mistress.

Today's word is "ppwshh" or PA-WISH!

Of course, he wants to be that way, or he would change.

You're right, Lesia. Clearly, he sees no problem. You have to realize there's something wrong before you can take the first step toward "fixing" it. Right now, he's perfectly content.

Hey, I like this WordVer: yboogig. That's actually fun to say!:)

I think Garcia was right on, Kan.

I think that's probably the case with this guy. I've done that to myself before -- built tall walls; i.e., if you can't breach the wall, you can't get to me. It's a bad way to live, though, and I didn't do that for long.

Good definitions! I'm going to have to give you a badge, too.:)

I vow to never become a supper hooker. I will hook for chocolate though.
