Blogger Boogaboos

Why do I blog? Why does anyone? For me, it's a space for what amounts to stream of consciousness rambling. It gets my thoughts off my chest and anyone who wants to read it can; anyone who doesn't, doesn't.

When Blogger has glitches like it has recently, though, it can quickly turn from SOC fun to a big burr in the butt. First, it was the inability to upload photos. I'm very visually oriented. I love graphics. Being deprived of them was pissing me off. Naturally, as soon as I figured out how to circumvent Blogger's built-in uploader and do it manually, it started working again and the issue became moot.

The problem of "publishing" and "republishing" and "disappearing posts" continues, however. That continuously spinning "thing" and the constant status message of 0% drives me nuts. Every time I get ready to publish a new post, I know it's a crapshoot. Ergo, I've learned to copy it somewhere else before I hit the button, just in case.

When I see a post on someone else's blog that I want to comment on, it's maddening to have the Comments screen just hang and hang. I don't like doing the same thing twice. Having to keep on trying two, three, or more times often causes me to forget what I was going to say in the first place.

The thing that makes me craziest, however, is being effectively locked out of my own blog. How insane is it to try to access my site for posting purposes only to get a message saying access is denied because I've disabled my cookies? Why the hell would I disable my cookies? Luckily, I've learned how to get around that nonsense as well.

At the moment, I have no intention whatsoever of transferring my site to Beta. "Beta" is, by definition, an experimental endeavor. I'm having a hard enough time with the tried and true.

Postscript: Woo-hoo, I see that the "value" of my blog has now increased by $2.00. Wow! I'm still embarrassingly low-rent but, hey, I'm worth $2.00 more than I was yesterday.

Most of the problems are IE related. On Firefox I have had none of those issues. The only problem I have is template changes. I use both IE and Firefox at home. You can keep both. I say try it.

I know someone using Firefox who's having the same problems, though. Do you think it might be a combination of issues?

I would give you $3 if it required an entrance fee.

LOL! You are such a gentleman.

So, perhaps we could conclude that the path of least resistance is using Beta and Firefox. Beats me.

Don't be jealous, Lesia. I think he only offered to pay because nobody else would. LOL.

The possessed image thingy -- I get that bit about no place to click "Done," too. If I keep rolling the mouse around, over Refresh a few times, it usually comes up. Finally. But -- of course, I'll teach you the way around it (assuming that it works the same way in Beta). I'll e-mail you.

Shoot, we're both queens. Hail to the Queens of the Short Redheaded Southern Valkyries. LOL. I'm just glad it worked for you.
