Bang!

For a while now, I've been wearing my hair parted on the side with my bangs brushed to the side. Now I'm in bona fide bangs again.

One of the guys at our table at the wedding reception this past weekend happened to comment on how young we all looked, which got us all to observing and talking. Looking around at "our crowd," it was true -- we look damn good. Truth be told, none of us look over 50, which we all are. In fact, we all look waaaaay on the downside of 50. Some of us look elegant, some of us look distinguished, some of us look like the Flower Children we've always been. What we did NOT look like was the geriatric crowd. Even the kids said so -- in total awe, I might add. There was nary a walker or pill box in sight, and none of us has ever touched prune juice. We "old folks" put the youngsters to shame on the dance floor. The energy, not to mention the heat from the "dirty dancing," was incredible. That's what led to my bangs flying and today's discourse on bangs. I was born for bangs. Who cares if my mother's generation thinks I'm "too old" for them? I think it was my generation that said, "If it feels good, do it." Bangs feel good. I'm doing it.

I remember when I had them. I remember having long hair too. My parents are 58 and 65 and are younger than I am at 35. It makes me feel so good to see them.

That's great that your parents are still having fun. I think it's true that "you're only as old as you feel." Chances are I'm not going to feel "50ish" for another 10 or 20 years yet. LOL.

I tried bangs once. When I looked in the mirror, I saw my mother and immediately let them grow out again.

Luckily, my mother doesn't have bangs. Otherwise, I'd have to lose mine. LOL.
